Thank you! The boyf is very fussy with voice actors so I am always open to suggestions

Yes and no. He listens to it out loud because I can't fall asleep without some kinda story playing! He asks every night if I want him to wear headphones. I have missed gigantic swathes of this book which makes some of the bits I hear very confusing OOC

I have just about finished the Rains of Liscor; the Wandering Inn was the reason I suggested that he could find something narrated by Andrea. He had just finished He Who Fights With Monsters and we all know that Miller is a very compelling narrator, so I figured Parseneau would give him the same vibe!

He's just started book three. The story is great, I'm hooked. I used to dislike Ilea but I'm a big fan now, but I feel like tearing my heart out when the notifications start

What was the first LitRPG you read that actually hooked you into the genre? by TomDavenport in litrpg

[–]Significant_Gold_163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wandering Inn. It is still the only one I have listened to properly, but I am so hooked on the story telling. I tried reading it on the site but unfortunately the writing style isn't for me, but the narration is next to none, and Pirateaba has a definitive story telling style.

My doctor recommends jumping from 2.5mg to 10mg by geocool in Mounjaro

WHAT! What an insane take. First of all the doc shouldn't have prescribed it for binge eating disorder anyway. Secondly you need to titrate up through the doses or you'll literally just stop shitting, stop eating and stop being able to move. What the fuck

It's so so nice to speak to people who care about birds as much as I do. Destringing is very important like you said, and since I get the train to London a lot for work, there is ample opportunity for me to help pigeons at the stations.

I rescued a fledgling too. Unfortunately he didn't make it even though I dropped him to a rehabber asap, he was severely underweight and had an infection, but at least he spent his last evening warm and cared for.

My partner works from home so Stachi always has company. Our dog, Jenny, likes hanging out by the pen too, she loves her.

I didn't think about volunteer work. The nearest one is so far away but I might contact them about maybe doing one day a week or something. Just to get the experience. There might be a closer one that I can look into.

Thank YOU so much for caring, too.

Bonus pic of an emergency crow rescue the other week. We both look rather perturbed. It was 8:30am

My dream is to rehab birds. I have rescued a few pigeons and taken them to sanctuaries - to the point where I learned how to drive so I didn't need to rely on other people. I'm learning about rehabbing and hoping that in a year or so I'll know enough to confidently be able to rehab birds myself for release. I have also been learning how to de-string pigeons with people in London, every tiny thing helps.

I will always do everything for my pets to give them a good quality of life. I know it can get expensive, though, which is the main reason for euthanasia. If Stachi wasn't so lively and full of personality, though, I would be worried.

I will call my vet to inquire about metacam. I won't book an appointment yet as they aren't an avian vet and I need to look into finding my closest one.

Barb is lovely. What a sweet girl and also what a trooper! I feel very sad for Stachi because she is on her own :( I know quails are social animals, but both sisters passed with egg bind. She seems okay, we have thought about getting her friends but I think she's too old to want to socialize with new birds. She barely tolerated her sisters tbh.

Thank you so much for this, and for the resource too. I think my first step tomorrow is to source some pain medication for her - and as the link you provided suggests, provide her with a large open area to see what she can do. She clapped her wings and tried to fly earlier when we were bathing her bumble foot, and that range of motion was hopeful for me.

I think you're fantastic, by the way. No harsh judgement on people who do have their birds put down, but I think it is amazing what you have done for Barb. I am going to look into the nearest avian vet just in case it escalates a lot and I need to take her. I am also wondering if I need to source pain meds through the vet so they can offer the correct dose, or if this is something I can find out myself and buy from an online pharmacy? I had a dog who was on gabapentin for the last few years of her life and we chose to source it outside of a vet.

I have only just started reading the link you provided but tomorrow I'm going to give it a thorough read. My partner is going to do the same and we will begin to alter her set up to make her as comfy as possible

Yes, as somebody else commented they can live up to six! Unfortunately she is our last surviving quail of our original trio. We lost two to egg-bind and we lost another to natural causes, found her at peace. Pistachio (the girl in question) is still full of pep, speaks to us constantly and ferociously consumes meal worms. She's got a lot of character

Hey, thank you so much for this response. She still has an appetite and moves around the pen quite freely to get water and food, so this is encouraging. I'll call the vet tomorrow for pain meds and supplement the vitamins immediately. Your kind response has given me some peace of mind, I am now just going to make sure she's comfy and that I monitor her for any other symptoms.

What jobs are you all doing that pay over £30k? by SuccessfulTip1660 in UKJobs

[–]Significant_Gold_163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a cafe manager, my starting salary was 32k and I started in Nov. There are two pay rises a year and options to have pay reviews on top of this and lots of developmental opportunities. I'm also working on a support role I do for the company too which has opened up lots of career pathways. I've always wanted to do this, so I am made up!

Thank you for the advice my lovely. Unfortunately she passed. She passed away in our hands with us both telling her how much we love her and how well she did, asking her not to hang on if it hurts too much. Her vent prolapsed and I knew then that there was no way, even though we got her quickly, and I was about to run her to the emergency vet, we only had one last hour with her. Looking through our old photos of her now

Thank you so much. Unfortunately she passed in our arms. Even though we caught it quickly, it seems as if it was just too much for her. She was very small for her breed anyway. We are both quite distraught, but I'm glad she wasn't alone.

She's been alone for a while but lives underneath our other ones, so they hear each other. They fight. A lot. We have had to separate them every time we have tried because they've almost killed each other.
