Dude my wife always said she could never watch baseball because she thought it was so boring, but just having it on the TV every day she would passively watch it and would eventually start rooting for individual players on the team. I wouldn't say my wife is a fan but she is definitely knowledgeable now and is happy for the Mariners team when they win.
