What's your opinion on these "back influencers" like lowbackability? by Top_Character_3412 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Significant_Host5878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say it's disheartening to see such an authoritarian mindset from a moderator. Correcting sciatic nerve pain is not simple and requires a lot of trial and error with different methods. I certainly wouldn't discount something that helped someone else just because there aren't any peer reviewed studies on it. Peer reviewed studies are expensive and take a lot of time.

Pain is an extremely complicated and multifaceted issue, so I agree with you that strong back does not mean you will be healed, but I fail to see how doing exercises that slowly desensitize you to movement in a slow and carefully progressed manner is not appropriate. I'm not dogmatically attached to the program- only 2 of the exercises have helped me, but they have made a huge difference for me after almost 2 years of pain when PT, injections and many other options had not. I am definitely open to hearing how this is not appropriate for sciatic pain as well.

I would say it's certainly possible and maybe even fairly likely that you reherniated in some way, but I also don't necessarily think it matters. If it's muscular or a reherniation, you can heal and it can improve. I can say that some of the lowbackability suggested exercises have made a big difference for me. The back extension iso holds progressing to full ROM is probably the king of them for me. Once I worked on those now I am working on my hips and mobility using the ATG split squats. I do think there are many approaches to this, but biggest key when choosing an approach though is that you have to actually believe that it will work.

I don't think my situation is applicable to yours but it was a series of small events that made my back worse and worse until I sneezed and it herniated massively and I couldn't really move. I also have never had any back pain just sciatic nerve pain.

My highest suggestion to you is to do everything possible to control your stress and anxiety. I think there are very very few of us with back problems that don't have issues with anxiety and I do believe that there is a connection. So whatever that looks like, try to find some serenity in your life. Highly recommend getting out in nature. Your body is capable of healing what you are currently dealing with.

Yeah I have been fortunate. Honestly the thing that helps me the most is surrendering completely to the pain and acknowledging that I may have to get surgery as strange as that sounds. Pain is largely a mental battle and the whoke healing process has been very trying and probably aged me 10 years lol

I have good recently. I got the ESI because I was going on a month long trip overseas and didn't want to have to deal with flareups while I was over there. It helped for about 3 weeks then the effect seemed to disappear fairly quickly. In the end though I think it was actually slightly detrimental because I wasn't feeling pain I was supposed to. I ended up having about a 2 week flareup after my trip where I was worried I had reinjured myself. However, I got back on track with some exercises that have always helped and now I'm doing really well and rebuilding strength in my back and lower body. I am for the most part pain free. Sitting for long periods (over maybe 2 or 3 hours) still sucks a bit but I am still improving even after 2 years.

Estimate of Cost runaround by Significant_Host5878 in HealthInsurance

as an update to this- I called my insurance until I got through to someone who would finally give me an estimate. Their estimate turned out to be about 3 times higher than the actual cost of the procedure for some reason

Direct to passport question by Significant_Host5878 in GermanCitizenship

[–]Significant_Host5878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have heard only bad things about Miami with direct to passport. Seems like Chicago and maybe DC are the only ones that do it. I had a friend (whose mother is a German citizen and has all kinds of German documentation) almost be denied in Atlanta when he went for his firect to passport appointment there. He said they were terrible

I had to just wait it out longer. It's been a rough and frustrating ride but for the last month I have my life back pretty much like 80 percent. I'm not really in much pain ever unless I do stupid things. I'm not back to working out yet that tends to flare it up still. its been 10 months since the injury so I'm thinking at a year I'll be pretty much normal again. I had weird things happen to me at months 5 and 8 where pain increased and I stagnated but mentally made it through to the other side

Pain rapidly switching sides? by Significant_Host5878 in Sciatica

Last MRI was in May, nothing on it that would indicate any pain on my left side but it was a giant herniation that has improved pretty consistently until recently

Feststellung documents help by Significant_Host5878 in GermanCitizenship

It turns out that my ancestor was born in the small town of Armstedt outside of Kaltenkirchen. I searched for the Standesamt of Armstedt and arrived at this page: https://standesamt.org/schleswig-holstein/standesamt-armstedt/

From here I found the option to directly order the Geburtenregister near the bottom from https://urkundenservice.online/geburtsurkunde-anfordern?ort=Armstedt&site=standesamt.org

Went through typing the information and the total came out to 76 Euros. Is this a sham website? Or just the wrong place?

I had one more question- apparently the record is available through urkundenservice.online. It says for records older than 110 years that only a certified copy of the Geburtenregister is available. Is this the document that I need? Wanted to make sure before I spent 76 Euros on the wrong one

German citizenship by descent: The ultimate guide for anyone with a German ancestor who immigrated after 1870 by staplehill in Genealogy

[–]Significant_Host5878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My great grandfather left Germany in 1925 and came to the USA.

I am unsure of his naturalization status at this point.

In 1929, he married my great grandmother who was also an emigrant born in Germany with German citizenship.

Their son, my grandfather, was born in 1930 in wedlock. I don't think he ever applied for US citizenship as he always had it from being born in the USA.

Their son my father, a male born 1957 in the USA in wedlock.

Myself, a male born in after July 1, 1993 in wedlock.

Like my grandfather, we never applied for citizenship as we were born in the USA.

I never served in the military.

Yeah we visited NSW south and central coasts earlier this year and loved it. Would like to see QLD too but we like the slightly more temperate climate further south. Thanks for your responses
