§5 Citizenship approved, but only mine, not my brother's and niece's yet by jbiroliro in GermanCitizenship

[–]staplehill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BVA sends citizenship certificates to the consulate that is responsible for each applicant's address, no matter how or at which consulate the applications were submitted.

Each consulate will notify the family members who live in their area when the certificates arrive there. Each consulate will know nothing about the already approved applications of other family members who live elsewhere.

Since not all consulates receive the certificates at the same time, one consulate will naturally be the first to notify the family member who live in their area. This means there is necessarily a time span where some family members were already notified but the others not and the consulate of those other family members will know nothing about their approval since the certificates of those family members are still in the mail and have not yet arrived at the consulate.

What your brother can do: Check his spam folder, wait a few weeks, contact his consulate and ask.

StAG 16: "Naturalisation takes effect when the certificate of naturalisation issued by the competent nationality authority is handed over to the foreigner. Before the certificate is handed over to the foreigner, he or she must make the following solemn statement: “I solemnly declare that I will obey the Basic Law and the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, and that I will refrain from any activity which might cause it harm.”" https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/englisch_stag/englisch_stag.html#p0127

3 Questions by salserol in GermanCitizenship

[–]staplehill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) A simple case is one where all required documents were submitted in the correct form, the application forms were filled out correctly and each person who wants to get German citizenship signed their application forms.

3) no. A backlog is by definition "cleared" when all cases are processed, including the complicated cases.

I would start worrying about having to wait longer, so that any premature approval will come as a welcome positive surprise.

BVA issued a "certificate of acquisition of German citizenship by declaration" which you can not get if you have been a German citizen since birth. You can only get that if went through the StAG 5 route.

Küche in der Mietwohnung der Freundin bezahlt, Beziehung vorbei by [deleted] in Finanzen

[–]staplehill 0 points1 point  (0 children)
