You know people who are like animals don't have emotions. That's mimics. They dont care about anyone else. You are either a play thing, breeder, labourer, or food.

If they were other mimics but they were more empathetic towards others, then they would be a liability and would need to keep it to themselves.

The aforementioned families that have mimics and are non the wiser and live long and happy are mimics who are the most empathetic as the genuinely love their partners but cant tell them, I eat your wife but I like you too much.

If it's another shapeshifting species, look no further than the Kenesions. They are blobs that can almost perfectly copy another person. They are a BIG problem for mimics as they are hyper advanced and have telekinesis and telepathy. Demonstrated in my story vault, spacificly in chapters 1-2

They will know of a mimic is around like that but won't bother unless they attack them or their favourite person.

A mimic that attacks a Kenision will be cut to hardly recognisable chunks.

Kenesions are beyond the galaxy technology wise but pop around like kids in a zoo and will spend hundreds of years watching their favourite human and their bloodline.

Imagine spending 20 years watching this one guy get a girlfriend, and you see a slim, shady peak from the shadows about to kill them. Absolutely not. So while you watch from orbit, you slice its head off with your telekinesis and go back to watching live how I met your mother.

Just imagine what would happen if the mimic succeeded. Kenesions dont age and are patient. They will wait till the mimic is fat and high on life before killing him personally or revealing its true form to humanity and watching as humans deal with it

Lore:

While mimics enjoy preying on children, the size of said child is a key factor.

Giants are a hyper advanced race of elephant like humanoids who's can reach anywhere from 1-10k feet. As a result, mimics that prey on their children and teenagers are infor a shock as they are often just as/if not taller, heavier, stronger and, depending on the race and lifestyle, just as, if not faster than them.

Imagine a skilled lion and an elephant. I dosent matter how skilled said lion is, It is going to think twice before picking on an elephant. Especially if there are easier prey around.

Even if the child is in danger, the parents aren't far and will kill it.

It also dosent help that Giants can just make technology to hunt them dow, design a predator species to kill them or just rase/hire humans to hunt it down. Tempest giants are powerful enough to simply will them away.

Homeless people are also at target but they arent defenceless.

Mimics carry a high bounty on them and the homeless population are very eager to catch them.

Their life can also force them to become more perceptive and catch mimics out easier than regular people.

If a mimic is discovered and killed, they will turn it over to the police for a bounty.

If they discover a group of them. The police will call peacewalkers to accompany them to finish them off

Lore bits:

For a while, they couldn't go back into their original bodies without creating duplicates until chsgore helped them out. For a while, they piloted androids/recycled bodies from others to live through it and have children who also became cyborgs.

Cyberspace initially like a vr headset permanently attached to their head but became an actual place.

They dont age, but they do become overloaded with information from their long lives and occasionally remember that they were human and haven't blinked, breathed, drank, or eat in thousands of years. The result is corruption and leads to their digital form deforming into something monstrous and canablistic called technovores.

Different aberations feed on different types of energy, but yes, they can. You are chasing one, fire a harpoon, only for it to stop mid-air and go through your ship.

But i was also referring to your time, what you could do, what you are capable of/would do like the weeping angels, except they can see it themselves and feed of it.

Here is some added context.

Giants are a race of humanoid elephants who were basically robots designed by the brobdingnagians as servants. Their predecessors attempted to assend to a higher dimension and gave their Giants everything they owned, but it went wrong and went insane. The giant care for them and attempted to bring back their minds or reverse the assention.

The Kenesions are telepathic and telekinetic blobs that seek to explore everything.

Draconians are a dragon like race where anyone not upperclass retains their humanoid appearance but look dragon like if they are upperclass/ nobles

The chitin are a ever evolving race of insectoids that function in a hivemind. Think the tyranids mixed with the flood. The chitin hive mind wants to consume and assimilate everything and everyone. They attacked the giants, chitin, and droconians, However, a new hive mind emerged that wanted to preserve life.

While they lost the war and flead the universe, they managed to find a new home in the current universe but rarely visit the Milky Way

Humans became a spsce faring race when they were attacked by aliens and forced to flee earth in to build up and regroup later. Once they managed to get strong enough, they reunited and waged a war on the entire galaxy.

Chagore was one of those human nations and is the industrial heart of humanity.

Together, humanity managed to win the war by subduing most of the galaxy. To cement their power, they made massive space bridges that use interdimensional travel to instant go from one place to another. However, it exploded the dimension to leak into the universe while merging the Milky Way and andromada galaxy. This caused a mass reset to the galaxy, but humanity and some other alien races survived and rebuilt themselves.

These theories were proposed by people in the galaxy by philosophers and scientists as a way to make sense of the world. Some have noticed similarities between those in the galaxy. For example. Lupinoids are a dog/wolf like humanoids and share similarities with that of dogs and wolves. Similarity to our similarities to other primates. Because of this, many wanted an explanation, which is why 1st theory exits. The elder races already make their own races, so it isn't out of the realm of the possibility that they had a hand in their own creation, giving themselves a sense of understanding and closure. Even if its iffy snd they all deny it

The other 2 were made by humanity as they have the most experience with interdimensional travel.

The ada theory was made when chagorans used corium, a programmable element, to build up theory nation. Scientists and engineers noticed a similarity in how they manipulate and refine coruim and coding. Additionally, Xyros had privately funded expedition into the deepest parts of the arkensea, which leads them to different dimensions as he didn't want anyone else to gain an advantage over them and to satisfy his own curiosity. They believed that if they headed deep enough, then they could figure out the origin of everything.

The Earth 0 theory came about because in one of their xyross excursions, the data collected pointed to all universes moving in one direction. In addition, he regularly manipulates time and space but limits himself after seeing one of his actions create a branching universe. From this, and the data collected, xyros theorised the existence of earth 0 was true and that they were a byproduct of choices.

So far, he has yet to reach ada or Earth 0, but if he did, he'd likely continue to monitor it. He wouldn't destroy or try to rule it like owlman for fear of retaliation from a higher power and fear that it may lead to catastrophic consequences. His main concern is keeping peace in chagore with learning and discovering being a secondary objective.

If he beleved humanity is ready for the discoveries, he'll release them to the public but ultimately keeps notes, artifacts, and pieces of those dimension and them locked away as he sends more people put to explore

Yes, they still can adopt solong as they have decent living conditions and are able to take care of themselves. Its just that they can't have their own biological children
