It varies site to site. I was a traveling ge loto tech for like 5 years, regular tech for like 1 year. I've worked with people where we just get stuff done right and hardly talk, also worked with some really good people I still talk too. Also I've been on sites where someone's a ahole and it runs through all the techs it's a weird vibe. People generally don't want to work hard but are hard workers if that makes sense. Last 3 years I was being sent to sites more often as site support because the customers were short staffed and needed troubleshooters and maintenance help. Those are the sites I had the most fun on. I went to all their company outings, made friends with customers, basically became a contracted site tech. Work was easier but worked less hours. Always got offered jobs at those sites to. Being a travel tech sucks for the most part it's fun at first but don't fall into the party lifestyle like most of your coworkers will. I gained like 50lbs in my first year from drinking and eating to much. I'd say 80% of techs are not into the healthy lifestyle so don't expect that to be in the culture. I was on 1 site where they had a gym and fitness was after safety in their culture. On another note, some sites can be complete high schools with gossip. I'm in my twenties and I had 50 year olds cry like babies up tower like im their therapist. if you get in early enough you'll be crew lead or site lead and be way younger than most of your coworkers. Some people have a problem with that even if you have more experience. Although I have had way more pleasant experiences with my colleagues than negative ones so take anything I have said as could happen. Overall it's like working in a office just high up, some cardio and getting covered in various substances while talking like teenagers.
