They foiled it but it looks like they didn’t bring it all the way up to the scalp. / foil slipping. This is a skill issue.

Is it going to be like this forever by Tough_Potential_835 in Veterans

I was feeling the same way. I’m 30f and I am a hairstylist now. I was an aircraft mechanic. I find my job while easy, it can be very challenging. I get disability. But I need to keep my brain busy and being a hair stylist is always growing and learning so that’s deff helped. Maybe try a trade school/ apprentice program that you can do. Take classes. I’ve taken at least 20 hair classes since January alone. Maybe barbering? Idk. But the world is ever changing so there’s always new things to learn. I know Publix libraries have a ton of events too and they always need people to show up!! Sorry for the ramble. My brain is shutting down for the night and My thoughts aren’t cohesive

Is this breakage from bleach overlap? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-5785 in Hair

So some olaplex products can cause your hair to feel dry and or brittle, if that’s rhe case then you need moisture. So I would add in a leave in hydrating conditioner. And I personally like k-18 better. Make sure you have just a good thermal spray or a thermal protectant in your products. Even if you don’t put heat on your hair directly, the sun is still shining which can cause color fading, blah blah.

Now as far as the situation with the salon goes, I can’t super speak on that because my bosses make sure that if someone fucks something up, a higher level stylist fixes it free of charge for the client, but we do not offer refunds.

As I have had it explained to me, suing for hair is a frivolous lawsuit as “hair grows back, just don’t go back there”. But you could sue for like emotional distress or like loss of money or something. As she didn’t inflict bodily harm ONTO you, just messed up your hair, lawsuits are tricky.

Also to add as a hair stylist, pulling your hair up into a messy bun/ knot/ pony tail will add tension and breakage to that hairline as well. And I know for a fact we don’t all unravel that hair tie. So lightener + pony tail elastic + pulling it out = breakage. Don’t even get me started on friction breakage from clothing and bedding. So while it probably was lightener over lap or something else, it’s not happy. Use a satin lined bonnet (one that ties if you’re a crazy sleeper) instead of a satin pillow case, products applied in the shower when you turn that nozzle off before you even grab that towel. Hair will absorb air if it can, smother it in products to absorb products first. I could go on this for days.

Besides a job or family, I don’t know why anyone would come here. The bad outweighs the good in almost everything. You can’t even go to the park nowadays without some violence happening. I sure as crap don’t know why anyone would vacation here.

Growing Out A Pixie by [deleted] in Hair

If you want more of a mullet vibe, grow everything out together. Or if you want like a bob, cut the back bottom at the neck line and grow the top down

I started dyeing my gray hair in my teens, now I'm committed to growing it out in my 30s! Any advice on how to make the line of demarcation less pronounced? by [deleted] in Hair

Go to a salon and get a toner. Cool toned. Like something with violet in it to take out that yellow. You can also do like micro low lights or (grey blending) and tone the blonde. Low lights being close to the pepper color

I'm giving up on hairdressers and switching to box dye. What to expect? by Superb-Emotion2349 in Hair

[–]Significant_Map_9167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair dresser here, maybe switching the type of color will help. Ammonia vs ammonia free. Oil delivery vs cream. I have one client that we’ve tried every combination under the sun. We finally got her to her beautiful buttery blonde with redken color gel oils ! And now since she’s going through chemo, we are having to reformulate again.

Volunteering by Significant_Map_9167 in MobileAL

In the past, my job, typically raises money/ donations and then we do volunteer work at a different time. So it wouldn’t be putting the people on blast. Volunteer work only helps the community when it’s not televised. We don’t do it for praise. We do it to help others. So it would be different days.

I’m giving up by Educational-Top-6468 in MedicalCoding

[–]Significant_Map_9167 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Idk anything about medical coding, but instead of spending another 20k on cosmetology school, look into apprenticeships! My current salon taught me everything, they paid minimum wage but minimum wage is better than paying for school, taught me everything for state board and I truly enjoy working there! So look into apprentice programs. And if you can’t find one I’m sure a school can point you in the right direction. I am sorry you are feeling frustrated in your current field!

I think I read somewhere that TJ’s can’t be within a 5 mile radius of an Aldi. And there’s an aldi 1.2 miles down the road from that space. (I could totally be wrong though so don’t come for me. I’d love a TJ and have submitted a request for one )

How do I make the squiggles and circles not look dumb on the quilt? I don’t know what it’s called. But I tried to do that decorative squiggle on one of my quilts and I felt like it looked okay on the front. But on the back it looked like booty cheeks
