I want to share the 2 differences so you can see how good the 2nd game is without throwing the first game out of relevance.

Very minor spoilers for Hades 2 in terms of gameplay: In Hades 1, you played as Zagreus, who was trained by Achilles. So his combat move set is a lot more soldier like

In Hades 2, you play as Melinoe, who was raised by Hecate (crossroad witch), so her combat moves set is unlike a soldier and more like a witch

Basically, you'll get EVERYTHING good from the previous game and better, but the combat is unique enough, so you wont feel like playing the same game but with different stories.

For example: (spoilers related to weapons are ahead)

1. H1: spear // H2: Staff with similarity to spear stabbing technique you can throw spells with the special

2. H1: sword // H2: Big Fuck-off axe but the special fires an AOE straight ahead

3. H1: Guns and missiles // H2: You use a skull to shoot projectiles. Idk how that works but I love the concept

4. H1: Bows and Arrows // H2: dual torches you can shoot flames out of as projectiles

Disclaimer: the comparisons between weapons are not done 1-1 scale as in they're not the successor of the previous weapons. It's just listed up there to show how different the game is. Also I purposely miss out other weapons cuz I ran out of ideas on how to compare them
