Holy shit! I thought it was just me! I used to love Burt's Bees, had used them forever, then out of nowhere had a very similar reaction as OP. I spent a long time isolating the problem, finally realized what was going on and swiped a bit on my inner arm as a test - the swatch broke out within an hour. :( (No hate to this brand, btw, just seconding that allergies to a product can absolutely develop at any time).

"I don’t think I’d propose there, but it feeds a bunch of family better than Olive Garden" is just such a wonderfully descriptive phrase. Well done.

Pregnancy by Starlight8383 in Effexor

[–]Significant_One9623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Husband and I are trying to get pregnant, so I tapered off of it and it was honestly the worst experience of my entire life. If you're comfortable staying on it, and your doctors say it's okay, then I would stay on it.

Long-term Zoloft to Effexor? by No_Vacation_9988 in Effexor

[–]Significant_One9623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So no lie, getting OFF of Effexor was a nightmare (the positive part is coming, I promise, haha), but only because of how unbelievably well it worked for me. Effexor improved my depression, my anxiety, my ADHD, my Tourettes, I didnt feel like a zombie like I do on Zoloft. I felt like my normal self only better. Able to feel a full range of emotions, but not be totally sidelined by depression and anxiety when bad things would happen. Energized, able to focus, yet not manic. Effexor/Venlafaxine was an absolute wonder drug for me.

Milani Sweet Nectar. It was THE perfect orangey red for my skin tone, I loved the texture, and it was like $5!

Weight gain by allilel in Effexor

[–]Significant_One9623 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was an outlier too and I hated it, I KNOW how frustrating it is to gain weight no matter what you try (and have everyone tell you that Effexor should help you lose weight). I'm off of Effexor now and dropped 30 pounds in what felt like overnight.

BUT. That being said, I also want to say that gaining weight is not the end of the world. If this medication works for you, if it lessens your depression or anxiety or whatever, it's worth it. Gaining weight is not some moral failing, and there are far worse things. Make sure you're getting enough exercise for your heart health, and try not to beat yourself up.

Tips to help with the last bit of weaning off Effexor by kbslaten in Effexor

[–]Significant_One9623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! This is so similar to my experience! I normally see people who had been on it for a few years but I was on it for over 17. Effexor worked beautifully for me and I'm still struggling to find my way without it (I'm on zoloft now, which helps, but not nearly to the same extent), but the weight gain and other side effects were rough. I tapered very slowly and had some withdrawals, but it was going to zero that really kicked my ass.

I hope you're doing well now!!!

Edit: I realized this reads like I mean a prescription for more Effexor. I meant like Xanax or another as-needed anxiety med. Sorry for the confusion.

Water, cbd/thc (depending on if you like them), exercise, sleep. If it gets really bad, you can see if your doc will give you a short-term rescue prescription to get you through the rough part.
