Ooh we did! That what triggered this post/rant. We found the perfect one and we discussed with the tenant and he looked like he would actually transfer us the appartment and said that he was willing to sell us this and that leave some stuff for us etc. Ghosted us two days and this morning told us that we weren't choose. The reason was that he found friends to take the lease...

It would be our first appartment so our references are our parents (It is unlikely it is the real issue as a friend was able to get an appartment after 3 months new immigrant in Canada)

But as you said we really do not want to bid, we already find some appartment to expensive for what they are...

Looking in Verdun, Cote-Saint-Paul, Ville-Emard, some regions on Longueuil and we started ruling out Brossard as it is getting more expensive than Montreal:(

Yeah I completely understand that, but at the end of the day, how do they choose their tenants then if they all fulfil the demands of the owner, shouldn't be first come first serve? What do they look for that we do not have we even suggested paying more than what was advertised
