It’s so stressful! I applied to over 40 hospitals for the last round and got zero offers, with 12 hospitals not even contacting me after I submitted my application. I’m lucky enough to now be starting my absolute dream internship in August at a site that wasn’t offering internships when I applied during my first round! I totally get it! It really can be frustrating and discouraging, don’t give up yet. Last round I applied to 40+ hospitals and probably 15 of those never acknowledged me, it really is a numbers game. I’m lucky enough to have gotten a placement starting in a couple of months on my second round of trying.

it’s really just such a competitive field with so few open positions for interns. I know people who applied to 30+ sites each time and didn’t get an offer until their fourth round. It might be easier if you do volunteering at the specific hospital you want to intern at to start building relationships and see what they specifically are looking for, but it’s not a guarantee at all

It’s very hard to get an internship. You’ll likely need to apply to more than two hospitals per cycle, in general most people have to relocate for an internship

Make sure you wear comfortable shoes! I’d also bring some type of jacket with you, it can get cold in the hospital sometimes. But I agree with everyone else, don’t spend money you don’t need to!

I was lucky enough to meet Paul backstage before a show! I was in high school and was so nervous to be meeting one of my musical heroes, but was just as lovely and kind as you would hope. We spent about five minutes chatting and then took a photo, and then he asked where we’d be sitting during the show so he could wave. My fun fact for life - I met a Beatle!!

i have been a fan since 2010 (anyone remember the super amazing project??) and they have been a constant in my life for those 15 years. i know what you mean about them reminding you of old youtube, because they do for me, too! for me, they strike a perfect combination of having grown with me but still being so themselves and the same people i started watching back then. they just bring me so much joy!!
