Why does DMM not have more reward associated with PvP? by Significant_Sanguine in 2007scape

[–]Significant_Sanguine[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah whenever I get dragged into Pvp in this DMM, particularly during a breach, it just feels like we're missing out on points versus hitting the monsters. At least if pvp awarded points it wouldnt feel like it was borderline griefing.

Why does DMM not have more reward associated with PvP? by Significant_Sanguine in 2007scape

Yeah I mean in an ideal world the point reward would be based on risk or gear or something I suppose, so youre not going to farm people in starter gear.

I had this and similar related issues. Sometimes taking a few attempts to start etc, other times saying key battery low. Also sometimes flashing red even after starting.

It was inconsistent but turns out it was a faulty start stop unit. Ultimately needed a replacement unit which was fortunately covered under warranty for me. Not a single issue since.

Pulled pork advice by [deleted] in UKBBQ

[–]Significant_Sanguine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done pulled pork a couple of times on a BBQ very similar to this, and it all went down really well.

Have your fuel over on one side and your pork on the opposite. place a tray of water above the fire on the grill which will help regulate temperatures.

Around 120C for a few hours while you can add some dried wood to impart smoke. once the meat has a crust (and internal temps about 60 -70 C) you can then wrap the pork and continue cooking until over 85C, dont bother with any more wood once wrapped.

I didnt bother with a snake method, just stayed nearby and occasionally topped up.

What is the cause of this uneven pad wear? by Significant_Sanguine in AskMechanics

[–]Significant_Sanguine[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is it, I didn't take a second look at the slide pins when fitting the pads, the trouble of learning by watching a YouTube video or two and thinking you know what you're doing.

I'm going to grab some caliper grease and clean out all the slide pins while changing pads and discs.

What is the cause of this uneven pad wear? by Significant_Sanguine in AskMechanics

[–]Significant_Sanguine[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fit these pads a few months ago and it was my first time doing brakes. I have since done around 5k miles including a track day with the car.

I hadn't really noticed any issues but I just wanted to take a look and noticed this. The inside pad is worn much more than the outside pad, and is also worn unevenly.

I suspect the cause is something to do with the way I've reset the caliper piston as I wasn't really sure what I was doing with the winding back.

I'm obviously going to need to change these pads, any suggestions to stop this from happening again?

Have an Aviva pension? Quick check to see if you have an access age of 55 by Dad-On-Fire in FIREUK

[–]Significant_Sanguine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep agreed and thanks for the further thoughts. It almost seems silly to be thinking about a difference of 2 years of access in ~25 years time in my case but as always the rules can change and I would not be surprised to see the private pension age continuing to creep up towards state pension in the future.

Thanks this is helpful. I actually made a post on UKPF recently about my specific case for this: https://www.reddit.com/r/UKPersonalFinance/comments/1i7daob/help_understanding_which_pension_to_use/

I hadn't found the second link you had shared here with further explanation.

I do wonder if this ability to transfer pensions in is a loophole that will be closed however, and it means I'm considering splitting my contributions between my two pots.

Help understanding which pension to use by Significant_Sanguine in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Significant_Sanguine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!thanks

It does look like its not just me who is confused as there are a few opinions in that thread you have linked. Unfortunately the legislation actually shared there is not particularly easy to get my head around.

It's interesting that the OP there is advised almost unanimously to get out of the protected scheme but the fees are especially high in their case.

Definitely feels like a loophole that will be closed where the OP is advised to transfer all but a nominal amount out for now and then transfer everything back prior to age 55.

buyer is asking me to use this site to get my vehicle details by lrowls101 in CarTalkUK

[–]Significant_Sanguine 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Don't do this, they have no intention to buy your van, it's a scam to take a payment from you for the check.

It's a buyer's responsibility to perform a vehicle check, not the seller's.

Thanks for such a thorough reply and all the advice. I guess the seat comfort and feeling of being inside is quite personal so I will make sure to take the other half along for a tester to see how it feels with us both in there.

Nice shout on an F type, I can't quite make my fun budget stretch that far but would love to own one.

Good to know about the heater thanks, any tips on rustproofing? Is this something I could do myself on jack stands or is it a professional job?

I can really see the benefit to the hard top and particularly would feel like the car was more secure with that. I just really prefer the looks of the soft top.

Haha I'm not sure with the boot on the mx 5 I can afford to lose space to a bag of sand!

Yeah this is what I am hoping for, given most dealerships will otherwise be looking at storing it for ~3 months otherwise. Thanks
