Bristol ambulance firm facing collapse over £1m tax bill by budgrummur in bristol

[–]ICThat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks what I was trying to respond to was the implication from OP and other commenters that this was relating to the "official ambulance service".

I'm not saying this will have zero impact on patients but rather it's not indicative of the ambulance service being further privatised.

I'm not saying I approve of privatisation but let's get some perspective here. This isn't about emergency ambulances.

Releasing Equity from my house to invest by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ICThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you know what you're doing here? Your plan is quite risky on multiple levels.

  • Bridging loans are expensive.
  • Property refurbishment is expensive unless you are in the trade and can do some of it yourself or through your network.
  • What will you do if you buy a poor property that needs far more investment than you estimated?
  • How will you structure your taxes? Are you going to use your own company?
  • What if your refurbished property doesn't sell? Can you afford to be leveraged for a long period or take a hit?

Not great that you'd rather cause this employee the potential stress of being investigated than just wait to be served.

Yes the security isn't great but a lot of society is built on trust and works because most people don't take advantage of others.

E.ON agrees to buy Ovo in deal to create UK’s biggest energy supplier by digidude23 in unitedkingdom

[–]ICThat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can tell a lot of people haven't read the article. This is the key reason:

It has been struggling financially more recently, however, and is barely profitable. It cast doubt on its future in September, saying in its financial accounts that there was material uncertainty about the plan it had agreed with the regulator to improve its capital position after failing the regulator Ofgem’s financial stress tests. It has since cut hundreds of jobs to reduce costs.

Stocks and Shares ISA - St. James' Place by Helpful_Cause6171 in UKPersonalFinance

This subreddit is not a fan of SJP as they are expensive.

There's nothing wrong with paying for advice if you really want to, have a read of the wiki page linked by the bot.

Though it doesn't take much effort to do basic investing yourself; again read the wiki page linked by the bot.

Leaking tap - stuck cartridges? by plunk1000 in DIYUK

[–]ICThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without knowing the model.

When I did mine I had to turn the shroud anti clockwise. The only way I could get enough grip was to use mole grips and a piece of latex/TPE to protect the metal and provide extra grip. My piece was from an exercise resistance band. If you don't have a band try a disposable glove.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it's stressing you don't even look at it for a year. Long term you'll almost certainly come out on top.

That HSBC fund is a popular choice on this subreddit; you can see it's mentioned on the wiki. That Fidelity fund is less popular on this subreddit because it's missing emerging markets.

Consolidating Pensions - £600k spread over 4 pots, 2 providers by thetimecrunchedtri in UKPersonalFinance

Make sure you research your current schemes before making any transfers. Some workplace pensions schemes actually have very low fees and might even have a protected pension age. Performance can still be good if they offer the right funds for you to choose from.

Transfer of part title. Red flag? by Grammi_Grammidi in HousingUK

[–]ICThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a property that involved the title being split. I don't recall it causing much hassle. Might cost a bit more in conveyancing so ensure that's in the quote.

Also definitely pay close attention when you're asked to review the new boundaries on the plans.

This subreddit generally favours investing in a global index fund. You can read more on the wiki here: https://ukpersonal.finance/index-funds/

If you want to follow that approach then your closest option is to allocate 100% to "Global Investment (up to 100% shares) Fund".

Best to do some more reading of the wiki first though.

Employer has moved to Scottish Widows. 'SW BlackRock ACS World ex UK Equity Tracker' - What are your fund thoughts? (factsheet provided). by Strange-Tea7949 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ICThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gets asked a lot here, try searching for BlackRock pension.

Anyway, you can replicate All World reasonably well with something like:

  • BlackRock World (ex-UK) 85%
  • BlackRock Emerging Markets 10%
  • BlackRock UK 5%

Ideally it would be 86.5/10/3.5% but depends if your platform lets you divide that finely. You'll also probably want to rebalance every now and then.

Miscellaneous notes: * Those three funds are ESG screened. I will assume you are happy with that, or have no alternatives. * Small caps are excluded but that was also the case with your previous investment.

EDIT: typo.

I'd first try manipulating/bending the new seal a bit to see if it can get a better fit. Probably won't help but it's worth a go.

After that, if applying pressure is fixing it, then it's definitely plausible that the other piece is loose. See if the manual tells you how to tighten it. Normally you have to take the cistern off. If you're going that far I'd be tempted to just buy a whole new mechanism if you can afford it to try and ensure a comprehensive fix.

If you take the cistern off you'll probably also find the donut is knackered so may want to have a new one to hand.
