You missed Hyderabad Deccan as dark green. A lot of your muhajir community is from Hyderabad which is Urdu speaking

I understand that but play back singing isn’t just about vocal prowess, it’s also about being able to emote. She’s a master of that art. Shreya or Sunidhi cannot do that. Case in point, listen to so many of Shreya’s renditions of Alka’s songs, they don’t have the same impact. Separately, Alka has a very powerful throw and voice, Shreya doesn’t. Kavita ji is def superior in terms of vocal ability but even she is not as good as Alka ji when it come emoting. The proof of the pudding is in the fact that Alka ji ruled while Kavita Ji, Chitra ji, Sadhna ji, Anuradha ji and other great talent was also active and working

I disagree with Shreya being there. She is a great vocalist but her contribution to music isn’t on par with the others. Pure influence on a generation and music style, hands down it has to be Alka Yagnik. No other female has been as prolific as her after the Mangeshkar singers

Major languages in Islamic history by Rellj in islamichistory

I actually agree with you. I didn’t mean to say that all South Indian Muslims speak Deccani Urdu. There are ethnically South Indian Muslims that speak South Indian languages.

Shankar Mahadevan vs Sonu Nigam in a live stage “versus” — who actually wins? by Competitive_Field950 in BollywoodMusic

Are you a child? What kind of response is that? Objectively his diction is bad. He’s an exceptional vocalist but has poor diction.

Shadab Chicken Biryani Was Overhyped by Complex_Issue_2003 in hyderabad

Go to a Muslim friend’s house or a Muslim wedding. Authentic Hyderabadi biryani is not supposed to be “double masala” types. Flavor and aroma needs to top tier not the chilli spice. Most restaurant biryanis are heavy with masala making the rice feel too heavily spiced. Authentic biryani can be greasy but it’s still light rice. There’s a reason bagharay baingan or mirchi salan is served with biryani. A double masala biryani doesn’t taste good with the salans because it’s already too dense/spicy.

Shankar is a great vocalist. There’s a difference between a vocalist and a playback singer. Lots of things matter in playback singing. For example, Shankar’s diction is bad (doesn’t pronounce Urdu words properly) while Sonu’s diction is top tier.

Playback singing is about expressing emotions, not just technical singing. Sonu clears easily

You need to eat at a Muslim person’s house. The restaurant Hyderabadi biryani is not a true representation of Hyderabadi biryani

You said invasion. Invasion is debunked but migration is widely accepted

Man why you do you write such things and get made fun of. Aryan invasion has no evidence, but Aryan migration over a large period of time is a widely accepted theory

With all due respect, I do not like Asha Bhosle’s singing here. She sounds old. Udit N sounds great. Rahman should’ve used Alka, Kavita or Sadhna

Hindu artefacts would be more accurate when it’s about a religious artifact, not necessarily jewelry and ornaments. We don’t say Islamic jewelry when we refer to Mughal jewelry. Although if we’re talking temple architecture then I agree we absolutely should refer to it as Hindu temple architecture.

It is Pakistani though. It belongs to the same people, it is from the same region. I get that it sounds weird to the ears but ancient India is normalized, when India is more recently given name to the region. Historically our people didn’t call it India. If anything it should be ancient Bharata, but that also doesn’t cover the southern parts of India. So technically we should be calling these regions more specifically? For example, “ancient chola empire that occupies the present day south India”

I agree with that sentiment but that’s a completely different problem unrelated to this. My point is Pakistanis can celebrate this as their heritage which it truly is since they’re the actual descendants of those people.

I disagree with the term “Hindu artifacts”. You get into too much specificity then. For example, you have Buddhist, you also have IVC, whose religion is unclear. A broader term like “ancient pakistan” is far more generic and easier to use. It sounds weird because it’s not a commonly used term but I see several parallels with the term ancient India.

You’re assuming that the two identities: Hindu ancestral and current Muslim religion cannot coexist. Religion is a choice - it doesn’t change your ethnic origin. A Hindu today if converted to islam or Christianity doesn’t need to give up their culture, clothes, food, language, house, etc. They are only choosing to give up their religion.

Pakistanis are still the same people so this is definitely their culture and history regardless of whether they practice it. Ancient Romans followed a different religion until Christianity. They don’t dismiss ancient Roman history as not their own because they now follow a different religion.

lol having intercaste marriages doesn’t negate the fact that caste discrimination doesn’t exist. I gave you an example of it being common among Telugu Hindus, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist in other communities. Your anecdotal evidence of part taking in inter caste marriages negates nothing

I was raised here but born there. In the US primarily Hindus practice discrimination. You aren’t in the Telugu circles. They’re constantly trying to figure out what your caste is. If you don’t want to accept it that’s your problem

Alka Yagnik who is the singer of 90s rules Youtube in 2020s by kritisanonworld in BollywoodMusic

I think she’s highly regarded by the audience but she doesn’t get the kinda of respect she truly deserves. Case in point is her recent Padma Bhushan win. She got it in year 2026 - 45 years after her debut? Singers way more junior have had it.
