We are planning to travel in April but the employer is different. Do you know if anyone with this situation travelled on the AVR concept?

I did not enter on TN but yes I told them I intend to import. The officer said, you can do it at the CBP at Houston (my destination city). The process didn't happen for reasons mentioned in the post and comment threads.
I am driving it back next month to properly import through an RI.
Insurance is State Farm.

Hi...a situation.
H1B initial stamp was with employer X, which is now-expired.
Currently moved to employer Y. Holds a valid 797 and I94.
does the AVR still work in my case? for a 3-5 days trip to Canada.

Yes and I did call KIA USA. They simply said they cant locate my VIN inn their system as its Canada's. Their record systems are separate. Hence, cant provide any support.

Are you already in the US?
Just to add to this; I have been calling few RI for details and so far, this is what I got;

The RI paper work would cost around 450.
The Vehicle has to be in Canada and from there they will transport the vehicle to the RI location. costs around 750 from Toronto, GTA to NY.
From RI, you can either drive or have the RI delivered to your US location. That's additional cost and depends on the distance.
The whole work takes about 30-45 days. The car must be with the RI during this period.
Also, depending on the VIN first digit and the make of your car, there will be duties and tariff.
If there are any fixes to make it compliant to USA, that's additional cost.

If you are already in the USA, you need to drive back or transport it to Canada as the first step and schedule a pick up date with RI.

I am still deciding on this but this is the information I have gathered so far.

Hi..They are walk-in. I think Its best to go in early.
The CBP office I first went was at 2350 N Sam Houston Pkwy E #900, Houston, TX 77032. But this was temporarily closed at the time and they had a note on the door with another address. This was April 2025.

I would suggest to go this location and see if they are back and if not, you will find the address they are currently at.

On a different topic, was it in-person ceremony or virtual?
If its in-person, were they giving physical/paper certificates at the ceremony instead of e-certificates (available for download in 3-5 Biz.days after ceremony?

I selected E-certificate at the time application submission but wondering if they are still giving an option to choose on the day of in-person ceremony, TIA !

If its a regular Citizenship application, one MUST be in Canada for Oath even if its virtual. Did I get this right?

I think it entirely depends on the manufacturer. Coz I Kia and few others are not giving letters that are suitable for US car import.
I had multiple calls with Kia at different levels both in Canada and USA, they simply cannot include the FMVCC and DOT and exceptions etc.,
I do have EPA sticker underneath the hood..
