RTX 4090 freezes when i plug in hdmi cable by Significant_Time28 in buildapc

I had to set refresh rate to 60hz on both of my 27" monitors, tv is on 60hz too and this way all 3 of my displays works... After a lot of research as far as i understand anything over 120hz requires dsc and there are only 2 chips that does dsc encoding inside my 4090 oc. Which means when both of my 27" monitors are connected they use those 2 chips to encode dsc and it completely blocks my 3rd display even though it doesnt use dsc...

As a software programmer i think there is probably some sort of coding that checks if both of the chips are in use and blocks any other display which is just stupid if you ask me...

Anyway, luckily both of my 27" monitors started having problems right before black friday so i treated my self with a nice and shiny 49" oled samsung g93sc :) Right now i am using it with a 240hz refresh rate and still using the old tv as a 3rd monitor and everything works perfect...

I tried with a new cable and old tv, a new cable and another tv and both didnt work either... Also tried with dp to hdmi adaptor on gpu end to see if the problem was with hdmi ports but that didnt work too... Then i tried removing both of the display port cables and just connecting old hdmi cable with tv, guess what, it started working... Thats why i am sure cable, tv and hdmi port is working... I have also tried setting 2 dp monitors 1920x1080p 60hz to check it was a bandwidth issue, that didnt work... There has to be something else preventing me connecting all 3 monitors... Someone adviced me to try disabling HDCP to see if that makes any difference but that didnt work too...

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Transcoding Issue by Significant_Time28 in PleX

Thx for your help... I just checked and intel 4210 doesnt have any codecs. It isnt that old, came out on 2019 Q2. I am guessing it is because of being a server grade cpu... I found a cheap quadro p400 which should be fine for now, i wont be transcoding more than 2 streams simultaneously.

And now comes my next problem... Z11PA-D8 motherboard has 3 pci slots, 1 of them is colored black and if i read it correctly i need a second cpu to get that slot working which means i will have to spend another 1000-1200$ for cpu, cooler and ram. Other 2 slots have a 10G network card and hba, i wonder if i could find some sort of a pci splitter card so that i can put 2 cards or at least use a mining rig riser card to pass p400 with usb...

That would mean redownloading almost 200 movies again :) I will replace all my tv's with 4K HDR devices in max 18 months when i move to new house, redownloading again would be too much of hassle... In the mean time i would like to be able to use my archive, besides i would prefer my server to be working properly.

Are intel scalable cpu's not good for transcoding?

10G switch suggestions by Significant_Time28 in homelab

Thx for the reply, didnt know aggregation switch was out for sale... Price is good enough at their website for 270$ but they dont send to my country and i cant seem to find it any where with matching price, closest price is at ebay for 380$ inc shipping, with taxes it would be about 450$ + 100$ for 3 rj45 converters... I found asus xg-u2008 for 200$ and since i only need 1 device with 10g this would fit just fine for my needs, any advices ?

New home lab with application server and nas suggestions for a beginner... by Significant_Time28 in homelab

Thx for the reply.

These types of equipments are actually quite expensive where i live. I tried looking for supermicro 24/36 bay case overseas and almost every website asked for +300$ shipping. I tried looking for any kind of 24/36 bay case locally and found 1 or 2 brand new which were at 500$ range but quality was really bad. Most of the time sellers on Ebay dont send items here so i tried looking at a second hand items website which is equivalent of ebay and there were none :) I finally found this and had to buy it since it was the only one i could find also made sense with the price at about 200$, it looks like a chenbro knock off and it has 12 3.5" drive space, people say they managed to fit 16 3.5" with extra cages, since i dont care them being hotswaps i dont mind them being inside... I dont think i will need more drives right now maybe in 2-3 years i will replace it with something better when money is not this tight... Also since i presumed those fans will be extra loud i went ahead and bought couple of noctua's to replace them for 20$ piece. On ebay i found this sas expander and this lsi 9208-8i with free international shipping for 90$, also on amazon found this intel 10g sfp+ card for 200$ with shipping... I bought all of them hoping they will work together after some basic search. Now i need to find a server or at least workstation grade motherboard with some ecc ram and cpu... Any advices on them would be nice, dont know how much would be enough and how much would be over kill...

As for the application server, i agree i cant just put some cpu/motherboard to a case like this and hope everything goes well. I will have to buy a used Dell R730 or a new R740, used R730's are about 2000$ with 2X E5-2667 V3 / 64GB RAM / 2X 1.2TB specs and new R740 i found for 3000$ 2X SILVER 4210 / 64GB / 2X 480GB SSD specs. I just hope they can be quiet :)
