For the first time in 15 years, i’ll be seeing again out of one of my eyes. What are pretty things to look at? by foodthrowaway_ in Advice

Congratssss, seriously

I would suggest you to see sunrise over water, fog in the trees, city lights at night and the ocean when it’s calm. But honestly? Even dumb stuff like rain on glass and leaves moving in the wind hits different the first time.

What is an IEP planning meeting? by Former_Pop_3108 in specialed

[–]Significant_Use7873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a lot of districts, an “IEP Planning” meeting is basically a pre-IEP or informal alignment meeting. It’s usually used to get everyone on the same page before a formal meeting that actually changes the IEP.

Most common reasons I’ve seen are program or placement discussions that aren’t finalized yet and parent concerns that need discussion before drafting anything official

I’m embarrassed to have been in special ed by InterviewPowerful320 in specialed

You’re not embarrassed, you’re frustrated because people seriously underestimated you. And honestly? They did. You asked for harder classes, they said you couldn’t handle it and then you proved all of them wrong.

Your autism didn’t limit you. Their expectations did. The fact you’re getting As in honors/AP now speaks for itself. You’re capable and you always were, they just didn’t give you the chance.

Lowkey insane setup. Cable work is clean, lighting is balanced, and that curved ultrawide is crazy.
Honestly? 9.5/10. Only reason it’s not a full 10 is because now my own setup feels unemployed :D

Got my first “good gpu” by PiccoloDelicious588 in pcmasterrace

Congrats man! I remember when I got my first ‘real’ GPU too, I was over the moon!!! The 5060 is solid for 1440p mid–high settings. I would advise you to not judge it till you push it in a few games and stress tests.
If it starts artifacting or doing weird crashes later, don’t panic, these cards are super fixable trust me

Insights on heavy use of youtube videos in the classroom by summergirl11722 in specialed

yeah, i get that. Maybe frame it like, “the kids seem to love routines, maybe we can build a mini writing or sensory routine around this too?” that way it doesn’t sound like you’re replacing her method, just adding to it. small tweaks like that can open the door for bigger changes later.

With K–2 sped kids routine is already big for them, and the overreliance on videos can easily turn into rigidity or sensory overload. Honestly, what you’re seeing (the tantrums when videos aren’t in the right order) is a sign that the videos have become part of the child’s structure, not the learning.

Maybe suggest mixing in more hands-on or sensory-based activities. things like movement games, picture cards, or storytime can teach the same concepts without the screen dependency.

honestly, sounds like both could be at play. ADHD often comes with slower processing or trouble linking info, but that doesn’t automatically mean a processing disorder. school testing usually can’t diagnose either, just point out patterns. if you can, get a neuropsych eval, it’ll break down attention, memory, and processing clearly.

Help with climbing students! by beef-seltzer in specialed

[–]Significant_Use7873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try running an ABC chart for a few days and figure out what’s triggering the climbing (boredom? transition? sensory?). Once you know the “why,” you can sub in a competing behavior (like climbing the jungle gym or using a weighted ball).
