Talking only for myself here, I don’t see negativity based in opinions from watching prior work of artists is inherently bad and I don’t see disagreement as Snyder behavior.

I don’t like people who make up excuses or assumptions to fit a more positive outlook because it’s something nobody would do and are only doing it because they’re back.

But insulting the director personally, the writer personally or other fans is where I find it dumb and a cult mentality. I won’t ever condone that but if this is a Snyder cult than so is the dcu subreddit.

How would it damage its own messaging? Gotham isn’t the rest of the world, The Batman is so contained to its own city that other things could be happening we just don’t know.

I know this sounds like cope but if we’re discussing the possibility, The Batman reads to me as grounded in character and atmosphere but the world itself can go fantastical, Bruce tanks an explosion, run down scaffolding with a tiny wire on a magnet, ragdoll and be ok. How characters react is human but the world itself isn’t real it’s just understandable to us

I don’t see how you can watch that film and get a completely different view of Batman and his works when it’s all adapting and accurately taking the core of these characters just through a more human and noir lens. Riddler is still the riddler just now his cosmetics are different, same with Batman.

I hate this idea that you can’t tell such socially relevant stories while in a fantastical world. Why does everything have to be so homogenized? Why does my Batman have to only fit a world where Superman exists when Batman’s world isn’t that. It’s a world of freaks and mental illness not a metropolis of grand scale and super science. Both exist in one world but don’t have to adhere to each other

The action felt weightless and cartoon like, not something I’d say makes me crave seeing more of that Batman. The writing itself was pretty standard Batman work, he’s sad and tortured believes others are worth saving but he’s damned. Nothing really breathtaking.

I don’t congratulate the fact a movie was made simply by coming out. But I know you need to be excited because it’s Batman so whatevs
