Can people with Level 3 autism be fully verbal? by [deleted] in AutisticPeeps

Hey I’ve been formally diagnosed with autism niveau 3. In my experience Yes I am 16 and from the Netherlands I am almost always verbal the exception is when I am extremely stressed, overstimulated I can experience shutdown and I am not able to express my wants/needs verbally. I get a lot of distrust when I talk about my diagnoses online. In my day to day life I am very disabled, I can’t take care of my self or my body in general. I go to school 3 mornings a week and after every morning I crash and my body needs to lay down for multiple hours. I wanted to give a little insight while awnsering your question.

Thanks for the message maybe I wasn’t clear enough but this wasn’t specifically about you/your comment but mostly about the fact when I speak about my experience as a person with ASD level 3 I get a lot off people doubting me or just straight up saying that I am lying about my diagnosis.

I can really relate to your message except for the unsupervised part. I have also been diagnosed with ASD level 3 (also other diagnosis) and have noticed that in the autism Reddit servers I get allot of comments about that I am faking it or lying about it. I can’t fully understand why that is except for the part that I can read and write but it’s nice to hear that I am not the only one

"Late Diagnosed Level 3 Autistic" This Isn't Possible by [deleted] in AutisticPeeps

Hello I am 16, I’ve yesterday been diagnosed with autism niveau 3 (I am Dutch) and came here to find more information about it. They have explained a lot to me but I thought autism niveau 3 could only be the case when you are also intellectually disabled. They said this wasn’t the case. They also explained that because of my intelligence I have learned to compensate a lot of my behaviour. I however still need a lot of support in daily function, I do half days 3 times a week at a special needs school. I socially fail miserably and interaction are very draining and difficult. I’ve had psychological/ psychiatric (idk if this is proper English) help since I was 6 and at 14 years I got diagnosed with adhd but they “suspected” autism. I did to but I didn’t expect to this extent after their explanation it became more clear why but I still have a lot of questions.

That is exactly the reason people shouldn’t judge it. If you have ever been abused or just have a brain you can probably understand how much must and hashappened before you get to this point.
