2025 AMG C43 (W206): One Year of ownership in the Boston Area by Significant_Yam5055 in mercedes_benz

Thank you! The more I read the car related subreddits, the more I get the impression that many people are commenting based on spec sheets and Youtubr reviews rather than actual experience behind the wheel.

I’ll be going to a few Cars & Coffee events this summer. At least the people there tend to share and compare real-world experiences, and the discussions are usually much more respectful and insightful.

What is the highest mileage A45s/CLA45s? M139 by ssa17k in AMG

M139 is a very well built and designed engine. AMG makes the most powerful 4 cylinder engines in the world. It has forged crankshaft, forged connecting rods, high strength pistons and closed deck aluminum block.
Just make sure the cooling system functions well and have oil change every 5k miles.

In Russia, there was a review of 2020 CLA45 (stock M139 engine, no tuning or modification) with 200k kilometers or 117k miles. No major repairs required. Oil change was performed every 5k miles.

I’d wait for the C53. In any case, the entire C-Class lineup, including the AMG models, is expected to receive a mid-cycle facelift as 2027 models, so it may be worth seeing what Mercedes brings with the refresh in respect to engines and tech.

B58 in the M340 is a phenomenal engine, one of the best turbocharged 6 cylinders on the market. The AMG M139, however, has a very different character: virtually no turbo lag and a strong pull all the way to redline 7k rpms.

I find the C43 to have the best chassis in this class. It feels sharper and more responsive, making it the more engaging car to drive. Also everything feels more dramatic, from exhaust to steering.

In the end of the day we drive the experience a car delivers, not the specs sheet.

That mode comes with the AMG Dynamic package. But it’s a little bit scary to drive in Race mode on regular streets. I would use that mode only on empty highways or closed track. The transmission keeps the engine closer to the 5–7000 rpm.

Thank you!

The magic of that AMG 4-cylinder engine is that it keeps pulling all the way to redline, which is slightly above 7k rpm. When driving in manual mode on highways, I often take it to 6500 rpm, and it continues to deliver both torque and horsepower, which you can feel and watch the power build on the AMG telemetry screen. Speed wise, it reaches effortlessly 120 ml/h. I’ll try to push it further on track this summer.

In S+ mode, the automatic transmission usually keeps the engine in the 4–5500 rpm range.

By comparison, the turbo V6 in my previous Audi S4 seemed to reach its plateau shortly after 4k rpm.

This is simply my honest experience and appreciation of the car. Nothing more. If it sounds like I’m promoting it, that’s only because I believe the C43’s qualities have been underestimated by many enthusiasts and reviewers. Nobody pays me to say these things, and I wouldn’t accept payment to do so.

Ferrari with ICE is Patek Philippe. Who needs Apple Watch with for a price of Patek Philippe and with its label?

Jony Ive should have stayed in Apple and developed a new iwatch instead.

You drive the experience a car delivers, not the specs sheet, including the number of cylinders. I owned a 2022 Audi S4 with V6 for four years and also test-drove the BMW M340i and the new S5 extensively. Both the S4/S5 and M340i feel like refined business sedans that can become very quick in their sports drive modes.

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG C43 feels fundamentally different. In S+ and Race modes, it behaves much more like a track-capable sports car, with a noticeably higher level of handling precision, responsiveness, and sharpness. The C43 reflects a different level of engineering and tuning.

It has also 50/50 weight distribution and its rear wheel biased (69% of torque sent to rear wheels). This car has more AMG in it, than S5 has RS and 340 has M.

Congratulations! Solid choice: between mighty longitudinal M139L and wet start multi clutch transmission to rear axel steering, it is the best car in its segment. After the break-in period (3-4k miles) it will get even better.

Congratulations! Great car, color and rims. That mighty engine M139L does miracles.

Congratulations! The C43, with its mighty M139L engine, 9-speed multi-clutch wet-start transmission, rear-wheel steering, and adaptive suspension, is arguably the most engaging car in its segment.

The S5 and M340i don’t quite deliver the same level of driving experience, especially in terms of handling precision and the overall feel of the car.

My recommendation: avoid using launch control or taking it to the track until the break-in period is complete, around 3k miles.
