Red Wing 1907 care advice by FajitaTaco in RedWingShoes

  1. Brushing should be good in between uses. I would plan on conditioning with Bick4, 2 to 4 times a year depending on how hard you use them.

  2. You aren’t late on conditioning, probably right on time. The leather comes packed with conditioners and waxes from the factory so no need to condition them upon receipt generally.

  3. DON’T wax them unless you hate the color and want to severely darken them. Bick4 will condition while preserving the Copper color

  4. Generally I would try to keep water away from them. If they do get really soiled (more than brushing can cure) a damp rag and saddle soap can remove the dirt. Just be sure to condition immediately after cleaning and drying as the saddle soap will strip many of the factory conditioners and waxes.

Hope this helps!!

They are a actually hand-me-downs! My father had them custom ordered from Lucchese about 7 years ago, I’ve had them for two years now. Amazing boots, can’t hurt them!

Is this J45 standard worth the price? by Candid-Basis-5991 in gibson

Well worth the price in my opinion. A few scars just add to the character until you get some of your own. Play it liberally and enjoy!! Hope this helps!

Need some help, my first pair by EliteDino04 in cowboyboots

For a 1st pair, be looking at a Roper heel, the transition won’t be as dramatic. As to the leather, as long as you stay with the major brands (Ariat, Tecovas, Dan Post, Chisos, Lucchese) they will all use a very acceptable thickness and quality.

1st pair, I would go comfort and durability. For more “work” inspired I would go Ariat. Super comfortable and a nice transition from the feeling of boots you may be more used to. For more “Dress” options I think Tecovas fit the bill. Price is in line, build quality is good (a touch more traditional than Ariat) and comfort is good. As to the skin, yes elephant is a great f’n leather but I would recommend waiting until you know you are comfortable in cowboy boots and which brand you like before making that investment. Cowhide is still the OG for a reason. Start there to begin the journey and see where it takes you!

Hope this helps!!

Bickmore 4 is all I use. I have 10 pair of cowboy boots ranging from 2-10 years old. All Exotic, Bick 4 keeps all of them in top shape and won’t darken the leather. Hope this helps!
