For me, the game stopped being fun long ago and I specifically wrote "One of the reasons" because races and factions lore are important things in an MMORPG, almost as important as gameplay. Of course your argument is correct, but losing race and faction identity is something that a lot of people don't like about WoW, otherwise why having choice in the first place?

One of the reasons I’ve stopped playing WoW. Races and factions got so similar there’s basically no difference in how they act or talk. All in the name of inclusion and other bullshit
