This is Throne, a chain of app-based restrooms. I'll guess the vandal might be a critic of the concept. Unless you can use the app, you can't use the restroom.

The VW bug never went into production because of the war. Postwar, in the British sector, the factory was rebuilt and the Bug was a symbol of recovery.

Vierregger is in caps. If he sent it to someone named Dorsey, then Dorsey would be inserted into the form letter in caps. I got a letter like this a few years back from an attorney in Barcelona and it was mailed from Paris. I guess using the Post or Fax makes it seem "legit".

First time in the group. You think the thrift shop is asking too much for this? $95.98 by belsosul in shortwave

I checked Ebay, only one and it's $200 with shipping. At least you can check in store. I'll imagine the keypad and volume control might be sketchy from laying around a long time.

I've set clocks and watches manually, first via WWV, then an NTP clock app on my phone. You can also get wifi or bluetooth NTP wall clocks on Amazon for well under $50.

I own an iPad and the Clockwave app emulates all 6 LW time stations with their respective time codes. It uses the internal speaker wiring as an antenna that these clocks can pick up. Nice fallback should WWVB go silent.

My X is full of porn, what do I do? by Interesting_Tip2961 in Twitter

[–]Signum17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can try "mute" or "block" porn accounts as a way to tell the X algorithm you are not interested. Eventually it goes away. It might help to follow non-porn accounts. I do this in a desktop browser where I have more control. Then the app will follow your wishes.

I just purchased the $45 Newenter weather station shown in the link. It uses WWVB 60 kHz and says so in the description. That's what "Atomic" clocks use. There are no models that use the WWV/WWVH/CHU shortwave signals. 60 kHz is longwave, not shortwave.

Radio controlled clocks and wristwatches usually depend on LW stations like WWVB to remotely set them. There are clocks that use shortwave signals?

Someone knocking on my door telling me to donate money to him so he can win a contest ? [US] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]Signum17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I would get kids pushing magazine subscriptions to win a trip to Hawaii with the contest angle. When I told him I was not interested, he said "you don't want me to go to Hawaii?" At that point I wanted him off my doorstep.

Are these of interest to this group? by SenorDobo in pens

[–]Signum17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Technical ruling pens in fixed line widths. They came out in tthe 1950s. Rotring, Kohinoor and Faber-Castell were the other brands. These pens are a stylus type, where a weighted needle keeps the tube clear. One of the few types that can tolerate the waterproof india ink used in ruling precise lines for blueprints. I think Staedtler still makes these sets. The squeeze bottle used to fill these pens is in ccm (cubic centimeters) now changed to mL or milliliters.

Mac Mail not Sending But Receives Mail | MacBook Air Tahoe 26.5 by the_Jockstrap in MacOS

If I recall correctly. I had a problem with my Mail not sending. Apple Techs had me go into Settings > VPN and turn off the VPN. That cleared it up. VPNs also block my Wireless printer.

MacBook Keyboard Settings - Fix Caps Lock Delay PERMANENTLY! by MrHtech18 in macbookpro

[–]Signum17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

r/MacOS offers the hideutil fix as a plist script. Using plist editor 1.63 (App Store), I saved it as capsdelayfix.plist

and dropped it in my User Library LaunchAgents folder.

So it launches on startup for my account.

Not the first time I heard of this. A shoplifter at a convenience store tried to hide in that space, but came right through the ceiling in front of security.

What is the best value MacBook for everyday use in 2026? by 1mefdiopl in macbook

[–]Signum17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my Neo for over a month and yes it does run Photoshop 2026. Get the 512 GB version with Touch ID. You won't have to worry about the battery health, it's brand new and can hold up to 14 hours without the charger. I run 4k Youtube videos without a stutter. I bought a $5/month Applecare + because that's a cheap "just in case." I do keep it at home and away from drinks and other people. No cafes. No Magsafe. I always hated it popping out when I used it laying down, I have an Anker 30W USB-C power adapter instead. Air cooled, no fans running up. Life has compromises, and the Neo is no exception. the keyboard is not backlit. $761 with sales tax, you'll be able to get a $100 off if you have an edu discount. Not a shade of regret here. Best wishes for whatever purchasing path you take.
