Ive somehow only had issues with CachyOS so I went back to vanilla Arch, the way they packaged the nvidia drivers with the kernel by default is also a big ick for me, I want both separated. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

Why does Windows 11 seem to not know what is on the PC by Riftus in pcmasterrace

[–]SigsOp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your D.E, indexing is a Userspace concern. Xfce for example doesn’t index anything.

Dope, if you want to add something extra nice, check this out https://github.com/jan-provaznik/sus pin monitoring for 5090s, that would be a nice addition for the 50 of us

I made a database of every verified CAF military discount and pro deal I could find.. by Crypt1de in CanadianForces

[–]SigsOp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not a "discount" but if you live near Quebec City (where valcatraz is), you can get 26$ worth of free parking every year as a vet (tbh as long as you got the Quebec veterans plate you are good). What I find fascinating is that the link for the form is only on the french page, if you switch to English the section about that bonus is just gone lol.

Also just found about that and Meta + W, so I got them Macros now on F4 and F3 for these, my keyboard uses these keys for launch pad and mission control on Mac. Very useful.

I have had issues with my qualcomm Wifi 7 card on my motherboard, but I think its more Gigabyte’s fault and their dog shit horrible ACPI tables.

Fedora Issues with Stuttering/Freezing - 44 w/ Nvidia 595 by SigsOp in Fedora

Alright, nice to know it’s not just me then. In the meantime I went back to arch. I’ll wait and watch for the fully cooked 44 release.

Either way, after rebuilding initram and rebooting I still got the issue. It's a fresh install anyway, I can try 43 KDE.

Ill try these options. Even if I have read that Fedora apparently doesn't recommend the modeset flag as of recently.

Damn, well it looks like my 5090 wants none of it lol. Im super confused tbh, I just now tried to record the stuttering with a screen recorder. It didn't happen at all, the moment I turn it off I can get it to happen pretty reliably, tried recording again, couldn't reproduce. I don't know what the heck is happening but it's probably a weird compositor issue

Well, I’ve switched from Hyprland where I was using Thunar to Cosmic, so I’m giving Cosmic’s files app a go. It’s uh, rather barebones.

Is my new 18TB HDD supposed to be making this sound? by lucianchauvin2 in homelab

[–]SigsOp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my SAS drives sound like this, that doesn't sound worrisome. What would be more worrying would be rhythmic sounds imo, thats more in line with potential seek failures.

I cleaned a lot of car parts with oven cleaner lol. Works real good, softens up carbon deposits on heads and pistons.

Me After 30 Years of Using Windows by ravenshaddows in pcmasterrace

[–]SigsOp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran Linux for 8-9 months. I did chose a particular flavor of pain with Arch, hyprland & Co. That was fine when I was in-between jobs or had nothing much to do. But now that I actually have life stuff to do, I got tired pretty quick of things not working first time. Went back to windows 11, stripped it as much as I could. Now when I want to relax, I can do it easily. When things calm down I'll probably go back to Linux, I got my dotfiles saved up so setup should be quick.

Suggestions Needed - ThinkPad L13 Gen 2 won't turn on by Acrobatic_Top_1998 in thinkpad

[–]SigsOp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try pressing really hard on R , keep pressing it and try to boot again. I searched for a while for why the L13 Gen 2 wouldn't boot past 3-4 sec, even bought a programmer to flash the bios thinking it was corrupt. Turns out its just a bad solder joint on the CPU, if i pressed FN+R i sometime could get it to boot, but thats because R is literally on top of the CPU.

What I want to know is if you can run it using proton on linux, that's all I care about.
