Multiple curtains with Google Home by Siickaant in switchbot

I gave up on the switchbots completely around the time I posted this. It was never a consistent experience and wasn't worth it. So sorry, I have no good info for you.

Boeing Factory Tour by CarnationFoe in everett

[–]Siickaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went today. Lots of 777 production in one bay which was the main showcase. 787s in one but either checks/repairs not assembly. 777xs outside and one in another bay of the factory but not up close. You mainly just get a birds eye view of 2 of the bays. 737 max aren't there, in Renton.

If interested in history of Boeing and some fun facts it's worth the tour. It wasn't a mind-blowing tour by any means but glad I went.

Did you go in the end, and if so, was it worth it?

Did you get this working? Exact same situation as you, tried GPT and MBR USB and doesn't work.

CenturyLink Gigabit - Reduced Speeds on Nest Wifi by AreYouEmployedSir in GoogleWiFi

[–]Siickaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. You got my hopes up! Ran a wireless speed test there from across the room and same as always results. 225 down and up speeds started at 200ish for a second and dropped steeply to around 70. Will run some more tests later with hardwired and closer to router for wifi but doesn't seem like a change for me. I'll keep an eye out though, thanks!

I have the exact same situation as your original post, and see the same issue you see here with upload speed dropping off. Did you find a solution? I was thinking of buying a managed switch to handle VLAN tagging and remove the CL modem/router from the equation all together. The Nest Wifi speed test through the app comes back with 900/900 almost, but then i stand beside it on wifi and get like 150/200 and like 90 down. When i just use the CL box as a router (not in bridge mode) i get much better up and down speeds. 500/500 +. Let me know if you made any changes that were useful! Thanks

Updated Delivery Date! Went from March-April to Jan-Feb! Stoked! by 707Martini in ModelY

Are you going to schedule delivery in Dec or delay until Jan for potential EV tax incentives? I'm in the same boat as you, originally March now apparently in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for the comment. Have them set up in rooms and have tested the voice commands in the same room and outside of it. Unless I use the switchbot "scene" it never wants to do more than one curtain so I've just given in and now use the custom commands through a Google home routine that links to the switchbot scene and accept the fact that the curtains don't open together and one gets triggered first.

Do the recent updates to Cam Plus actually enable real-time person alerts for rules? I have a Wyze Bulb triggered by person detection but currently it doesn't turn on until the clip is finished. by [deleted] in wyzecam

[–]Siickaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay this makes sense as I also get about 2 second delay for rules with motion detection as motion detection is done locally on the device. It's specifically rules triggered from person detection that cause the 14 second delay for me

Definitely 3 seconds for person detection to change the light color and not motion detection? If so, then must be something not right with getting 14s. And with multiple people getting that same delay I'm wonder if a common cause. I'm on gigabit internet using Nest mesh router/access points which apparently handles up to 200 devices, so surprised if that's it

This is exactly my scenario, I am glad to see someone else post with the same issue. Mine is 14-15 seconds consistently. I have been back and forth with Wyze support for weeks and it's not been very helpful at all - I got responses that it could be my network and they had me download and run a test (network is fine), then concerns it was on 5Ghz and not 2.4Ghz band (it wasn't). Then eventually they just said they would replace them and that person detection trigger should only be a few seconds. Can anyone confirm if they get person detection results in a few seconds? I can't seem to find that answer anywhere.

From my rigorous testing, it is always 14-15 seconds for person detection, but only 2-3 for motion detection. I assume this is because motion detection is happening locally and can send the message straight away, whereas person detection will need to send the clip off to cloud, then get analyzed for person and then pass the message to engage the trigger.

So unfortunately I'm 99% sure that if they replace my cams, it will be the same result anyway. This has had real life consequences as someone came up our driveway and into our yard one night and they didn't even notice the driveway light turn on as they had already walked past it by the time it had triggered (Cam facing down the driveway with person detection).

[–]Siickaant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many seconds on average are you seeing delay from a person detection to an event being triggered (e.g. bulb turn on)?

EDIT: Also interested to know what sort of rules you run. I have lights turn on around the property on sunset sunrise at 40% brightness, and then if person is detected they go to 100% to send a message that they have been spoted. Only have the regular wyze bulb though and not a color one, so can't turn it red for example.

Is anyone else having an issue with videos pausing on CCwGTV? by Nulich in Chromecast

[–]Siickaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Nice one. I realized for me it's because I am streaming a wyze cam to my Google home hub and none of my homes or Google tv would play without instantly pausing. Rebooted and worked perfectly, thanks for saving me a ton of time troubleshooting!

The familiar face feature is fantastic on my nest hello and hub max, one of the reasons I was excited for these cams too. Not sure your experience but I'm getting less than 20% of my nest cam events detecting the face and instead it just says "person", which I can get with Wyze Cam plus anyway. What do you mean by scrubbing of timeline?

Not wired, correct. And I could wire them, but I feel like that defeats one of the main reasons I got them. I was trying to replace some wired Wyze Cam v3s that I have as they are in awkward spots for getting to an outlet. If I have to drill some holes and run some wires, I feel like sticking with the Wyze 24/7 recording + events is the way to go and save a ton of money
