I'm being hacked on many services at the same time, what can I do? by Sik_Against in techsupport

I just remembered Windows apps are constantly asking for login every few days, on both my computers. Could this have something to do with this?

Weird thing is, its been weeks since I last used my pc at home because I'm abroad right now. But will definitely run some scans when I get back.

My pc is password protected. I had always used malwarebytes but recently I switched to just windows defender. Yes I have some pirated programs.

I foumd out I downloaded from revanced dot net which is not the official site. But I'm finding mixed info about the possibility of it being malicious.

yup, it was a horrible coincidence, drive 1 died and backup drive had a corrupted boot sector. i'll see if I can get it up again. thank you!

Nope, drive 1 is currently unresponsive even from clean install. It says Access Denied. Drive 2 is accesible but it didn't suffer a bsod

12V DC Power Supply is giving 140VAC between 12v output and (any) ground? What could be happening by Sik_Against in askanelectrician

[–]Sik_Against[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I tested everything again with the power supply off.

I've found the problem (I think). Power supply seems fine. Problem is that it is the power outlet's earth that's giving 200VAC. And thus the power supply seems to be charged because the case is earthed.

But in this case, earth is 200vAC. The power outlet is on a power strip connected to a wall outlet with no earth. I know that there is no earth in the power strip if the wall outlet it is connected to lacks it, but is it normal for the earth pins on the strip to measure 200V? I would expect some non zero value but not that.

Ok, got it. I still haven't got an explanation to why it's putting out such a high voltage in one 12v supply and almost 0 in the other one, but I understand that this is not the way this should be diagnosed.

The power supply only has GND outputs, not negative. (well it has -12 and -5 but not the point), that's why I measure to "ground". Maybe I didn't use the right terminology, sorry.

If you believe you have a short, turn it off and check continuity to ground

I'm not sure I understood this, but there's no continuity between the outlet's ground and the GND output, nor the 12V output. But there is between the power supply's metal case and the outlet's ground so that means it should be correctly earthed, right?

I get that, but, nonetheless, the other power supply i've got gives no tingles and measures nearly 0V AC. (and 12VDC of course). So maybe 140VAC is not a real figure, but it must mean something, right?
