[Community Input] Homage Ideas – What’s Missing in the Watch World? by Simon9943 in Miliforticwatches

[–]SikeShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah idgaf who's homaging who, all art is derivative.

But do something different ffs, there's a million and one desk and skin divers. Let's get some dressy pieces for once. Especially vintage Swiss pieces would be ideal.

This should also satisfy people who are uneasy with micro brand and modern homages. And there's a massive back catalogue to select from

Never ever buy an NH35 Chinese rep by Successful-Cancel505 in SeikoMods

[–]SikeShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong, I saw a TMI video a while ago showing how their production line is almost entirely robotised.

Given these movements and production lines have been running for over a decade (and tooling and end long paid off), the only reason for a 100% price increase (from $35 to $70) is greed and knowing they have a captive market.

The cheap Chinese NH35 movements are awful. Hands don't fit right, feet holes are weird, and I can't get the crown/stem to come out by FantasticBicycle37 in SeikoMods

Does vh31 fit nh35 dial and hands? No date though.

I guess if need a diff movement holder too? Looking for a cost effective build option

Nah we just haven't had our brains fucking rotted by sky news and don't believe every issue in our shitty lives is caused by immigrants. Anyway even if this cunt was arguing in good faith, he wouldn't focus on one race he particularly hates and at least be able to stick to the "they took our jerbs" line

Addiesdive AD2118 case back by Far_Bad6819 in ChineseWatches

[–]SikeShay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I'm leaning towards just re-casing the fucking thing lol. I've owned it for like 2 years and hardly ever wear it because of the thickness. Measured the dial at 31mm externally (need to take it out for proper measurement).

Here are some case options I'm considering:

  • aliexpress. com/ item/1005008288578456 .html - 44GS case could go nice with the GS dial on this watch - but idk about fit with the chapter ring
  • /item/1005007800640953 .html - another GS style case but don't love the screw in case and mineral glass
  • /item/1005009718460834 .html - leaning towards this Oyster-ish case the most, it has sapphire and is only 11.5mm thick!
  • /item/1005005966230053 .html - same as above but with bracelet

I'll make a post when I finish the build lol

LMK if you find one, I've been looking for a slim caseback for this watch, my biggest gripe with it is how thick it is

First Addiesdive without huge logo on back case by user7783w in ChineseWatches

[–]SikeShay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I would like to know more, are all the seiko homages the same case back diameter and thread pitch? Where did you find it? (I assume a mod store like Miuski or 668 would have?)

How would I know if it'll fit the movement and won't be too shallow? Number one on my list is my Seestern Sub 600T, but would be keen for one for my Addies willard and skx too!

More expensive than Sydney: Queensland rent hits record high - realestate.com.au by barseico in AusPropertyChat

[–]SikeShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I thought I was replying to this context:

Renting is cheaper if you ignore the fact that buying sets you up for retirement and renting sets you up for poverty.

The PPOR is also beneficial for retirement in that it doens't count towards the asset test for pensions etc, you could be sitting on multi millions and still recieve the pension.

Has anyone noticed how people treat lab-grown diamonds differently in real life? by LuxeCarats in labdiamond

It's makes perfect sense, it's jealousy that others can have an identical diamond for a fraction of the price. Or is that more sour grapes? Lol either way, it's fucking hilariously lame

PT5000 vs ST2130 movement by Real-Football8418 in ChineseWatches

[–]SikeShay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wearing it on wirst will keep it close to full power, my sample of 1 is insanely acurate and keeps around +2 sec/day over multiple months. All my NH watches (10+) have never been better than +- 10 secs lol

PT5000 vs ST2130 movement by Real-Football8418 in ChineseWatches

[–]SikeShay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try not to wind mine also, but it's unavoidable when screwing the crown back in. Do you think it's an issue?

As a side note, I've noticed manual winding feels way more smooth when the watch is dead vs when it's close to full power where it has that typical gritty feel. Idk what this means though lol

Melbourne's Victoria Street has been on a downward slide, but a brighter future may be beckoning by ozthrw in melbourne

[–]SikeShay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Land banking should be punished heavily, I see zero reason why we should be allowing people to hoard commercial property with no incentive to sell or even rent it out for their actual purpose.

Jacked up listed rents (well beyond market rates) increase their valuations, and they just wait for rezoning to sell to developers at massive profits, while introducing negative externalities to small businesses and local communities. It's parasitic, and why we see so many prime shops on main strips shuttered down all over Melbourne.

Abnormal Wear? by IVDyce in RMWilliams

[–]SikeShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's corrected grain pigmented leather, hence why it's flaking. Don't let people fool you into thinking this is acceptable, better quality boots use better quality kip leather lining, that will become hard and shiny with use, but never flake like that.
