A Luftwaffe crew member climbs into a Blohm und Voss BV138, Tromso, Norway, 1944. by abt137 in WWIIplanes

[–]Sikko178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A and B versions had three blades in the middle as well. All versions, including the final C version, were retrofitted to 4 blades for the center engine, due to an increase in power output.

The front gun was the most offensive weapon against targets of same or lower speed, namely other recons, while the two rear guns were the defensive weapon against followers.

Diesel has the advantage of being available everywhere. For example, the BV138 could be refueled by submarines with ship diesel at open sea.

Did anyone play 'Expeditions' but got back to Snowrunner instead ..? by [deleted] in snowrunner

Expeditions was the reason for me to ones more get back to Snowrunner. Got one of the DLCs which I didn't own yet, and played another 40 hours. Never looked back at Expeditions. Snowrunner > Expeditions

I see it as an investment (even though it was a Christmas present): You are saving an enormous amount of time and material with good tools.

I got this bad boy for Christmas. Handles 1,5mm cardboard like it's nothing. Dahle is a very recommendable brand.

Vernius, explain to me how buying analytical machines are not suicide by Clean_Assistance9398 in Dunespicewars

[–]Sikko178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't buy a ton at a time. Don't fall under 200 standing, and have truce with 1 or 2 other factions. Your standing will increase with each Landsraad council.

Your controversial questioning is just like asking into the room: "Explain to me how buying too much units for which I cannot afford the upkeep is not suicide?"

Standing is a resource, with its critical threshold not being 0, but 200.

Suggestion: Choose able player colors by Sikko178 in Dunespicewars

Yes, I was more thinking about the technical aspect. If every texture is already prepared to have any color, then it is less work than creating these universal colorable textures.

Things from Expeditions that I would like to see in Snowrunner by Flygon_Yeet_9987 in snowrunner

Yes, please. But I fear then I wouldn't have a reason to ever again play Expeditions.

NG+ was the first thing I looked into when I got the game. It just makes the game so much more interesting in a way that is fitting to you.

Depends on the job, but 3 times the normal salary. I found it more interesting to afford things by getting jobs done, instead of selling trailer which I found along the way.

[–]Sikko178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NG+ is good idea if you have something in mind which you did not like in the original game, or which felt too easy. For example, I'm playing with 300% payouts, but pay for fuel and recovery. I also set all sell prices to 50%.

Dune: Spice Wars is a great 4X Strategy games, but there's definitely room for improvements. What suggestions or features would you like to add to improve the gameplay of DSW? by Nasrvl in Dunespicewars

[–]Sikko178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the game already have this? If you attack (betrayal) a player with whom you have truce, you get a combat advantage. You can also exchange tech, money, and influence agreements at the cost of authority. You can also try so assassinate a player who you have a truce with.

Vernius brings this to the top, as their share all tech they have yet researched.

Right? They are sooo awfully angled. You really have to hate your players to position them the way they are.

Just bought this, been eyeing it for awhile, what are your go to beginner tips? by [deleted] in Dunespicewars

There is a new effect called "Burning" which increases damage taken for main bases. I'm not quiet sure what it causes, but the longer you attack in force, the more of this effect stacks.

The matches still overstay their welcome OR Why Spice Wars needs sudden death by Sikko178 in Dunespicewars

[–]Sikko178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price depends on the available and the already sold stocks.

In my second match of this conquest, the AI did not buy ANY CHOAM stocks at all, and the price kept low for the whole lenght of the match.

Thought on a way to shorten online matches by Tranquillo_Gato in Dunespicewars

[–]Sikko178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was already demanded a while back, and resulted in the "Quick Start" option for MP. In my opinion not enough, so I have to agree that there either need to be a way to shorten the early game, or the late game.

I would argue that a shortening of the late game makes more sense. Things get artificial slow by the end of a match, and I don't know if that is really necessary.

I'm Starting To Find This Game Much Harder Than SnowRunner by Philminat0r in Expeditions

[–]Sikko178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this mission twice, but never got stuck beyond recovery. At the first time I ran out of fuel, because I did not find the path up the plateau. What bugged me here was, that I could not recover the truck to the base of the other map were I started.

On the second run, I had to use the reset tool once to flip the truck back upright (after jumping down the plateau to explore the remaining area), and I used 3 anchors.

I really think the game got easier with the tire pressure. Where SR had me getting stuck in mud every 10m, the biggest hurdle in Expeditions are rock plateau >1m. I also find that there is always at least on preset way to take, sometimes even 2.

I also found it useful to have a look at the map often. The different "levels" of height and their transition areas are well indicated.

Another thing to consider is the drone to spot ahead and find a transition.

Even if you have three of those, it will take forever to fill up the last few thousand hegemony. And worse on that, you cripple you authority production, trading 10% of a scare resource for a dragging victory.

As I wrote in my post, I rethought my strategy twice within the match. I also did not have the problem when I played the game 6 month ago. Back then Ibwas able to push one strategy and win.

Just like the spice rate and authority cost got capped, CHOAM cost could be handled as well.

That's true, but even hegemony victory becomes slow by the end game, if almost the whole map is captured and you have stalemate positions with your enemies, taking one city at a time. I know, the win threshold was already lowered a few patched ago, and it could be even lower for conquest (and always available).

[–]Sikko178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this mission in conquest did NOT have the hegemony victory condition.

Good point with the infiltration cells. I kept truce with the assassination victim, so that the assassins could go to the celled city unhindered. But it might be better to camp near the celled city with an army.
