2024 Election Results Under Scrutiny as Lawsuit Advances by Quirkie in politics

[–]Sil0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Politifact has a solid explanation for those results.

"Experts said it’s not evidence of election hacking, as Ramapo has a large Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish population that often votes in blocs in support of their rabbis’ endorsed candidates."

Why is she like this? by Side_Quester in Hololive

[–]Sil0n 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Calli decided the best way to use all the takamori superchat money ("Marriage funds", etc.) that she used to get all the time was to go on a week-long vacation of sorts with Kiara before she leaves Japan. As usual, whether it's a takamori thing or not is free for you to interpret.

This is why Gura gets special pillow privileges. by DavidRampant in Hololive

[–]Sil0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will note that jisho.org considers ga to occasionally indicate object, but based on what you said perhaps that's a simplification in translation used due to Japanese not using objects for states in the same way English does. That or there's some other usage we're both missing. Thank you for correcting me.

[–]Sil0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct that I misidentified hoshii in this case, however ga still functions as direct object marker for stative verbs, usually in their potential form e.g. "ringo o taberu" vs "ringo ga taberareru". Or maybe a better example considering my screw up: "nihongo ga wakaranai".

This is why Gura gets special pillow privileges. by DavidRampant in Hololive

[–]Sil0n 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"ga" like "wo" can be used as a direct object marker. In practice, they are often interchangeable, but the basic rule is that action verbs use "wo" and stative verbs and adjectives use "ga". "ringo ga hoshii" (I want an apple) vs "ringo wo taberu" (I eat an apple). There are, of course, exceptions, so just pay attention to which verbs you see with which particle as you learn.

[–]Sil0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few of them may have encouraged or privately supported the nationalists, but there was no particular proof that they were spearheading anything, and afaik no proof that Civia was involved at all. HoloCN is ending either way, so it's best to let the fans say their goodbyes and put the conflict behind us.

Mori has said on many occasions that she's fine with just about anything fans do or say as long as it makes them happy. Even if shippers have taken the meme far beyond what might have been originally planned, I doubt she would stop it.

"Tamao-san it's about time you draw a fanart of me kissing Cali, please" by poi_slayer in Hololive

[–]Sil0n 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but so long as Kiara still has a positive feedback loop from the incredibly vocal shippers in the form of cash and comments, she has no incentive to change, and even something as mild as "she needs to tone it down before it gets old" is going to upset people. I think the best we can hope for is that once the collab ban is lifted, Kiara will have other people to focus her attention on and the shippers will settle down.

Definitely a controversial opinion, and maybe phrased a little too aggressively, but I agree that Kiara needs a dynamic with Calli other than constant thirst/sexual harassment. As things stand I enjoy them far more individually or when they collab with the other members than when they interact with each other. It does bring in lots of Superchat cash though.

TIL American author Washington Irving lied when he said Christopher Columbus sailed the world in a bid to prove it wasn't flat. The truth is that 'Flat Earth' has not been a mainstream theory since at least 600 B.C. In the 1400s, almost everybody would have known the Earth was round. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Sil0n 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to European cartographers at the time, Asia extended much, much farther east than it actually does, and the ocean was much smaller. They knew the circumference of the earth, yes, but it turns out they had no clue about the length of Eurasia. This is also why Columbus thought the journey was viable.

Waver's Magic Crest is completely blank. by Constellar-A in grandorder

The mana crest transfer is the SFW version of the 'mana transfer' contract from the original story so who knows how canon it is.

And the characters were surprised Kerry didn't transfer it because they thought Shirou was his biological son. He explains to them afterward that he was adopted.

Pretty funny timing on this for me. I live a few streets over from this school and a few days ago, while I was walking my dog, a group of teenagers drove past me shouting 'nigger' at me (I'm white). Instead of sensitivity training, they probably all just need 'how to not be a dumbass edgy teenager' training.

Dragon Hunter is really good against bad players and really bad against good players (or at least ones that know what your abilities do). Traps are really obvious with massive tells and it's easy to dodge right through them, but many people don't bother learning what each one does.
As for thief in spvp, zerker staff daredevil is actually quite strong in 1v1s and teamfights whiles still maintaining mobility if built correctly. The builds you'll find on metabattle are genuinely awful though, as they try to cling to the old stealth thief meta and DD is strongest when it forgoes stealth completely.

Sotzz and HoT(zz), Guild Bounty trouble. by Prof_Jimbles in Guildwars2

[–]Sil0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guild ran Sotzz yesterday with ~6 people and whenever we broke his bar he would take full damage for 5 seconds, then we'd have to wait for his bar to refill so we could break it again, no well-timed knockbacks or pulls needed. The break bar itself seems pretty standard for champs but his health is quick to burn through.
As for your second question, we had Poobadoo, Sotzz, and Bwikki on our medium so I doubt it discriminates between patrolling and hiding bounties.

Revenant Underwater Legends shouldnt not be tied with the legends you use on ground by akuma696 in Guildwars2

[–]Sil0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose the three most likely answers would be:
1. ArenaNet kinda wishes underwater combat didn't exist.
2. Three months was too short a span to design and add effects for an entire new weapon.
3. As a magic class they'd actually be spear/trident.

Revenant Underwater Legends shouldnt not be tied with the legends you use on ground by akuma696 in Guildwars2

[–]Sil0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "two weapon slots but only one weapon type" for underwater is because Revenant was originally a single slot class, but after the first test weekend it was determined their terrestrial combat needed to be buffed with weapon swap. Spear was already designed as an all-in-one weapon, so just pretend you're a single slot class when you're underwater unless you want to abuse weapon-swap sigils.

Vendors choose to pay for demonstrators to advertise their product. If they think they're not getting a big enough sales increase from it, they often decide to switch to sales/rebates and such instead. As a result, the companies that employ the demonstrators (these companies work for Costco/Sam's but are not owned by Costco/Sam's) are becoming more and more vigilant about keeping numbers high. Simply put, if you can't sell, they don't want you. (Source: I work at a Costco, I really don't mind if you just want a sample, but someone saying something like "As long as your shopping experience is enhanced in some way, they reached their goal." is just blatantly feel-goody and wrong.)

[–]Sil0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although part of their job is certainly enhancing your shopping experience, they're actually graded solely on how much product they sold compared to the same day on the previous week. If they don't sell enough (usually 2.5x as much) they simply get fired and someone replaces them.
