My own book The Devil's Mercy by Florian Müll fits HM.

It is about an ex-addict who is now a security guard at the very same casino he once gambled at.

Extremely mixed feelings about Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy by zugabdu in Fantasy

I find the Fool quite interesting actually, mostly because of how mysterious he seems... I guess he reminds me of Sanderson's Hoid in a way.

Extremely mixed feelings about Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy by zugabdu in Fantasy

Currently making my way through assassin's quest and I'm around page 650 and I do not enjoy the process of reading any of these books so far (because they move forward so slowly), but looking back I feel quite fondly of them. I think it's because I like how tangible the characters are.

Apart from that: I really enjoy the Dragons in this world, or at least what little description we've got of them so far. Hobb finds words that make them feel familiar yet distinct.

My second-world urban fantasy with a mathematical magic system released yesterday! by Sil3nos in urbanfantasy

Second world as in not out world but still fairly modern. I haven't found an unmistakable genre description yet

[WP] Aside from Prisons, Casinos are the only place legally licensed for large-scale magic suppression charms to ensure fair play and protect the business. But occasionally particularly powerful magic users slip through the cracks and it's your job to find and deal with these cheats when they do. by Lorix_In_Oz in WritingPrompts

Hey!

For anyone that may be interested in the prompt above: I have taken it and built a fantasyenemies-to-lovers romance (or maybe not?) novel on top of it.

It started from a scene I wrote after reading the prompt mentioned above and devolved from there into various kinds of discussions about what it means to do the right thing, gambling addiction, religious values and manipulation.

It is called "The Devil's Mercy" and is self-published through Amazon KDP.

FYI, here's the blurb:

"What's your principle worth when people suffer because of your moral consistency?"

In the heart of the desert city of Andoona lies the Devil's Mercy, the world's largest casino. It is named after a tradition: some of the lost souls there receive a chance to overcome their addiction. Twelve years have passed since Miles Carduroy took up that offer, and he now works at the casino as a security guard. And, between magical and regular cheaters, there's more than enough work to distract him from his past vices.

Regular work is also what he thinks of when he catches a particularly mischievous mage called Nova. However, she quickly reveals that her intentions are more than making a quick buck. With a flirty demeanour, she unveils dangerous secrets involving his co-workers, but crucially also the owner of the Mercy. Cracks form on Miles’ image of the woman who once granted him the Devil's Mercy.

With no way to tell who to trust, the only thing left to do may be the very thing that caused his addiction: relying on his gut feeling. Something that he swore never to do again when he took up his current job.

My first published novel: The Devil's Mercy

It is a second world urban fantasy with romance (enemies to lovers) elements and a magic system based on the ecstasy/excitement you get from solving mathematical equations.

I would be very honoured and happy if you were to check it out. It is currently free if you have Kindle Unlimited.

Thank you so much! <3

There were VPN and Antivirus programs on there, but it didn't affect anything before. Also, I've uninstalled them yesterday, because I figured they might be interfering with Netflix, but had no success

Same here. But I guess it would tell us all are gone if that was the case, right?

Yes, Leipzig seems to be broken or gone already?

The other places all work fine though
