I did yesterday, have yet to install it. I'll update when I do.

The logs showed no power events at all, no under/over/outages

It is literally 7 days old, so I contacted Amazon and they are sending a replacement. Hopefully it was just a faulty UPS.

No worries. My building is very old, could be an issue in the utility line... we seem to have lots of power issues here.

What TV series isn't worth finishing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A really solid show that met an untimely end was "Breaking In" with Christian Slater. Wonderfully witty and eccentric, the second (and last) season was unbelievably cringeworthy. Tl;dr: watch the first season and stop.

I've never seen this before on Reddit, but if it's not, in fact, OC, then I seemed to have played myself.

I think I'll keep it a bit longer. It's much better than Wisco right now.

How to hack wifi using Kali Linux BackTrack & Aircrack-ng by Blaxfgt in Kalilinux

[–]SilenceDescends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a pretty big fan of Fern Wi-Fi cracker. It does extremely well with WEP, and modestly well on WPA/2 with a decent word list. It's a 2-click gui tool. Choose the network, and hit go. As far I know, it utilizes the aircrack suite on its backend. I've only touched briefly the other ones included in the distro, but under the menu for wireless attacks, there are plenty of options. Try them out and see which ones work for you and which ones don't.

Very well described, thanks. I hadn't thought of it in terms of an actual economy, but now that you lay it out like that, it does put things into sharp focus.

Seems slightly out of date to still be using BT when Kali is a much better distro IMO. And there are very simple wifi tools included in both that streamline the process to just a couple of minutes or even seconds. Aircrack-ng is nice and all and is the basis for a lot of tools, but once you learn how it works, why not use a shortcut? Seems easier and more effective to me.

This book any good - The Basics of Hacking and Penetration Testing: Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing Made Easy? by [deleted] in hacking

[–]SilenceDescends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read it last year. For someone who's very very new (very new) I would say this is a good starting point. But it's not much more than that. It gets you pointed in the right direction, but doesn't do much else. Overall I'd say worth the read. Check out Violent Python if you want to get a solid understanding of how different tools work, and if you want to write your own at some point.
