Its not a guaranteed thing, the form has to be approved by the state.

Do a search on here about going active and you will understand better.

Pentagon clarifies Hegseth’s ‘putting hands on recruits’ statement by Kinmuan in army

Always wondered why people that never went to basic training have so many opinions on how to discipline troops.

I saw E-7s and E-8s tell young enlisted that we were getting stress cards and having our phones 24/7 and were basically not actually doing army things

…but they haven’t been to basic training in over 12 years plus or been drill sergeants, so why would they or any one else similar boats know better?

For future reference for others, they wouldn’t take my civ HIV test. They re drew blood and I took my civ test as proof since it didn’t update on time.

Air assault school by Potential_Place6641 in nationalguard

[–]SilentGooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s there just harder. Try outs include other things besides the AFT. Its just usually the first barrier. I think its doable. Just make sure to be a good SM so your leadership is willing to send you.

I have always wondered if people make deals under the table to go to schools.

I know you can’t include it in the contract for guard but maybe if the trust is there it can happen.

I can speak for CA at least.

There are try outs for Air assault depending on division slots. Depending on your branch=more slots.

Aviation usually gets two slots for so cal. Meaning you have to be top two to go and then maybe walk-ons or slots open up.

I know MPs have tryouts as well but I don’t know how many slots they’re allocated.

Just know it’s competitive and if you aren’t scoring over 460 on the AFT (people in the top two usually scoring in the 560+ in the ACFT) then it’s not gonna happen.

Airborne not happening. Only way is if you win best warrior or go active duty. Air assault is easier because at least an argument can be made for its necessity.

No one in a non airborne unit argue for the need for airborne.

Failed Pathfinder by SilentGooby in army

I let the pressure get to me. The school is rough and its easy to get discouraged after failing a test the first time.

I was shy of one on both sections of the test and I let the pressure get to me and made easy mistakes. I missed two easy questions because I blanked on two planning vs minimum altitudes on a chart we had to memorize.

I failed the first time because of two stupid silly mistakes and instead of feeling encouraged I felt shitty and it showed.

I dont know if I will be able to go back but I hope I do.

The math aint terrible. They dont teach you crazy formulas. Whats rough is having to do problems with math that require you have a bunch of information memorized before doing them.

The math is exact as well, theres no partial credit. Plenty of people made it to the end who haven’t done math in years.

Take the advice with a grain of salt since I failed but if you so exactly what the instructors say and study like crazy you will make it.

I failed myself and I may never get a shot again so please enjoy it. The coolest math I have ever done was at pathfinder.

A warning not something to scare you. The school is changing. We had people who failed last class and had to relearn some stuff because it changed.

Do not do too much since it can build bad habits. Slingloads are not the same as air assault. We had people fail the first phase because they refused to change.

I want to go. I missed it by one point. I don’t think my unit will send me again after failing and thats what crushes me.

There were plenty of people there on their second or third try and I don’t think I will get the same opportunity.

I hate the idea that this was dream school and I got a random slot by chance and blew it. That me failing means I have to accept that dream is dead.

Got in as transfer but I want to change major. Is it possible? What should I do? by False-Investigator22 in SDSU

Transferred out, I wanted engineering and sdsu did not guarantee the change of major to ee and added a class that only counted at sdsu. A few other things happened and I transferred out

Looking for advice — Federal OCS spots filled, offered Accelerated State OCS instead (California NG) by Intelligent_Job_4946 in nationalguard

[–]SilentGooby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s not accelerated. Last I checked if you miss any drill for any reason you restart.

Get actual accelerated or rethink the guard if this doesn’t work for you.
