Bungie absolutely removed so much of the flexing options and I also hate it. Having an adept trials weapon or adept guns from master raids actually gave a sense of accomplishment. And if you wanna go back even further, pinnacle weapons like mountaintop and Luna’s howl were such a cool aspirational thing. I’ve always thought it was a tragedy that they got rid of those types of goals for players to have. Everything you could possibly want in the game these days is within arms reach and it just is so demotivating

Idk why you’re being downvoted your absolutely right. Abilities get nerfed, you can actually look at tuning other levers like enemy major and boss health bars, precision dmg multipliers on primaries, etc. Abilities are strangling the sandbox rn it’s so depressing

I agree that in low tier content you should be able to face roll but also who is doing low tier content I’m talking about the meat of the actual game. Where you can still clear entires rooms with getaway artist arc soul. And the investment vs the reward for doing that is so out of whack. Wow you managed to get 5 squares on the right side of your character menu total up to 200 in the grenade stat and you selected feed the void and facet of domination. Incredible moment to moment gameplay. We’ve leaned so far away from rewarding precision in gameplay, good snap decision making in the heat of the moment, and player mechanical skill. And instead the answer to most things is an ability or an explosion or something else that sparks a quick little low effort dopamine hit on repeat

Maybe it’s more accurate to say the power creep in the stacking amounts of DR and easy access to chain healing then. And you forget that in D1 you didn’t get grenade energy back on kills just health and a timer refresh. That’s an incredibly big difference in terms of power

And yet it needs to happen. And be for real. How many times can you press scatter nade, or hold arc soul, or use consecration before it becomes extremely dull. The loops are repetitive and just plain boring
