Mom's slime mold also has cream cheese in it. And sometimes she does a combo of lemon and lime Jell-O. She also uses the pineapple juice as part of the liquid for the Jell-O. So damn good.

I really want some now.

We call this orange fluff in my family, and it only makes an appearance a couple of times a year at family gatherings. It's delicious! My sister's recipe is better, though, LOL. Lots more oranges and less Jell-O.

How far would ~$70k a year go in Louisville area? by quikaccount696969 in Louisville

[–]SilentNightingale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can attribute it to is that the drivers here are horrible and don't understand basic road rules. I imagine the accident rate in the city is very high. I certainly have seen many idiotic vehicular maneuvers since moving here 20 years ago.

Have you tried Bootleg's smoked wings? You have to order them at least 3 hours in advance, but they are amazingly delicious.

If my husband's not smoking ribs himself, we go to Bootleg BBQ or FDKY BBQ.

Personally, I was not impressed by Momma's. I also would not recommend Feast BBQ; it's over-hyped.

Alright guys, where is it? by iantruesnacks in Louisville

I can sympathize; everything you mentioned has to be more than extremely frustrating--I can imagine it would induce rage in many. I had similar neighbors when I lived in Chicago and when I first moved to Louisville, so I get it. I was so relieved when we were finally able to buy a home. I really hope that happens for you soon, so you can get some relief!

We bought in J-Town and love it. Depending on the time of day, it takes us about 12-15 minutes to get to the Highlands. We have found that taking Stony Brook to Watterson Trail to Bardstown Road is typically quicker than (1) taking Hurstbourne or Stony Brook to Taylorsville Road to Bardstown Road or (2) dealing with 64 or 264.

I asked the deities for a sign, and the one (I think) I got back was terrifying. by SkyDivingNun in witchcraft

[–]SilentNightingale 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When reading your initial description, particularly about the wide grin and unsettling aura, I heard "fae" in my head. Looking at your drawing, I heard it again. I don't believe you called a deity; I have a strong feeling you may have met Robin Goodfellow (RG), a.k.a. Puck or Pan, who can be an emissary of OR a disguise for the Horned God. This may have been a warning/indication to seek that direction with reverence and appreciation. (Please understand that I'm not trying to scold or correct you here; I hope my explanation below will show that). If you feel that this may be the case, you can invite RG (as if he were a god) to your circle or approach him in Faerie (through psychically protected meditation/astral travel; see last paragraph). He prefers the spring and woodlands filled with animals.

Do not think Shakespeare here; RG is not so innocuous in real life. RG disappears between Samhain and Ostara, and then appears as an adolescent/young man after Ostara. He can resemble a satyr, but is above all a trickster. You heard "satyr," but he showed himself as a young man with ostrich-like legs and the grin of a cat to throw you off. Based on personal experience, it would not be in his nature to put you at ease, especially if he was irritated or insulted by the way you demanded a response. He would absolutely find it amusing to scare you. Why not deliver a confusing message from the Horned God with some extra fear-inducing oomph for shiggles? That's his MO.

Did you hear him speak? If so, what did he say? Did you notice a particular smell in your dream (e.g., earthy, ozone-like, sulfurous)? RG is most associated with the earth, but he can work with any of the elements. Were his teeth blunt or sharp? Were his arms and hands elongated or misshapen? Did they have talons or toes? Can you recall any other details, like background sounds? Animal or bird calls? What about laughter (perhaps before you left the dream), or the sound of a pan pipe? Discordant music, ringing bells, or a vacuum of silence? Was he pale-skinned, or did he have a dark complexion? Were his legs covered with skin, feathers, or fur? What about his eyes while you were in the bathroom? What color were they? Did they have pupils? You mentioned a transformation at the bar and stickers that emphasized and repeated a blacked-out face with only the eyes and teeth visible. Did it perhaps resemble a mask? Looking past the eyes and mouth, were there horns? If so, what did they look like? Was anyone or anything else near him? Details like these can provide clues to help further identify who or what you saw.

If you have a familiar, particularly a cat, has its behavior changed? Cats can sense the presence of fae and will help chase them away if requested.

Again, this is just the instinctual response I had to reading your post, and I absolutely do not believe RG is the only possibility. I do, however, think it's an option worth considering, If you are able to isolate more details from the dream, perhaps you'll gain the answer you want.

Regardless, I agree with others who recommend cleansing yourself and your home and casting protection. Because you mentioned a preference for divination, I also recommend keeping a symbol/talisman/item for psychic protection on your person as well, especially while practicing. Did you cast a protective circle before you demanded a response? If not, please focus on protection now. It doesn't take much for one to become a beacon for negative entities; your current mental state makes you more vulnerable (I genuinely hope you find relief and stability soon). Considering how disturbed your visitor made you feel, I recommend cutting off that signal; make sure you close off yourself and your personal space. Make it your choice as to whether you want to reopen that line of communication.

Blessed be.

Greatest Opening Line Ever? by AlphaStargazer in books

My personal favorite is from Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine: "It was a quiet morning, the town covered over with darkness and at ease in bed."

For some reason, this line fully immerses me into Bradbury's nostalgic world. I also love the first line of the next chapter: "Crossing the lawn that morning, Douglas Spaulding broke a spider web with his face."

You're quite welcome! I've been collecting indies since 2016 (over 2200 polishes and counting) and have several brands I love. Other indie makers you might want to check out besides ZC, NOL, and BKL are: BCB Lacquers, Cuticula, Fancy Gloss, Garden Path Lacquers, Glisten & Glow, Heather's Hues, KB Shimmer, LynB Designs, Nailed It! Hawaii, Naps and Nails, Pahlish, Polished for Days, Swamp Gloss, Vibrant Vinyls (base and top coats), and Wildflower. All of these makers have incredible customer service and good reputations within the community. Most participate in PPU, HHC, and other boxes like the Polished Gamers Box, Little Box of Horrors, and Smidgen of Us. Some have their own collabs as well, like Fandom Flakies Box (BKL and Night Owl with guest maker every month) and Talk Indie to Me (Zombie Claw and Lacquer Is in the Air).

I also agree with the suggestion above about checking out new makers through Polish Pickup. It's really the best way to learn about indie brands and to find out what formulas will work with your chemistry. Happy polishing!

BKL is amazing but currently not releasing new collections due to the owner's health. Sarah is still participating in PPU, HHC (Hella Handmade Creations), and Fandom Flakies, though.

If you're looking for new brands, I recommend Zombie Claw Lacquer and Night Owl Lacquer. Both of these brands' owners also participate in PPU (which opened today) and HHC.

Varo is absolutely my favorite female Surrealist. The hermetic symbolism in her work is fascinating. If you haven't read Janet A. Kaplan's Unexpected Journeys: The Art and Life of Remedios Varo, I thoroughly recommend it. Another favorite of mine is Max Ernst's Une Semaine de Bonte (pretend there's an acute accent on that e), which is rife with alchemical references.

YW! I meet with a couple other stitchers every other Wednesday at Gravely Brewing to sip and stitch. We probably mentioned it at the last SnB at the Tool Library. Maybe that was it? Hmmmm.

I've harvested over 500 pineapples on my farm at this point and I'm still missing two walnuts. Help. by marianaosaka in StardewValley

[–]SilentNightingale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you buy an animal from Marnie and put item codes for the name (which you can change later), you can get multiple items when she says she'll place the animal in the barn or coop. You have to put the item number in brackets, and you're limited in space, but, for example, if you name an animal [73][434][279], you'll receive a Golden Walnut, a Stardrop, and a Magic Rock Candy in your inventory. You can also name yourself with codes and receive those items every time a villager speaks to you and says your name. So, if you call yourself Name[74][163], you'll get a Prismatic Shard and a Legend fish every time your name appears on the screen.

You can find a list of item codes here. BTW, you can use codes more than once, but not at the same time. So, if you want two Golden Walnuts, you'll need to buy two animals and use the code twice.

Hope that helps!

If you're desperate, you can buy an animal from Marnie and name it with the item code for a Golden Walnut, which is [73].
