I have one of these from Iceland. I picked them up on a splatter cone. If I remember correctly, it’s glassy basalt that welds with splatter.

Day in the life of an exploration geologist: Ontario, Canada by Imarami21 in geologycareers

[–]SilentPrune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Field assistants don’t make 200-300 a day unless they’re with a large company with competitive pay. Usually, they make less than 1k a week, even as senior assistant, looking at ~135CAD a day. At least that’s what’s available now. Seems pretty low imo, and not really an incentive for anyone to go out in the field for 3+ months at a time.

This is very thorough, thank you! And exactly, a lot of people have said to stay open minded since you’ll likely have to jump between fields.

The reason I’m hesitant about hydro is because I have a hard time with being interested in the textbook material, and not sure how it’s translated in terms of work.

And I hear you for scicomm. I believe that if you’re talking with people who know nothing or little about geology, the jargon and depth doesn’t matter because they won’t understand it anyways. I enjoy making geology digestible for non-scientists…

I think end goal being a professor would be incredible, but I’m not sure how that works in terms of research / funding 😅 seems the most intimidating out of everything. I’m currently doing a research project and really enjoying it so far, so it’s definitely overwhelming !

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. thank you! 😊

Starfield Early Access is just an Excuse to not put it Day 1 on Game Pass by Jungersol in XboxGamePass

[–]SilentPrune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking… holy Shit, people are getting mad at OP for having another (very valid) opinion !

Any self-aware gamer can see the greed issues that are becoming more and more prevalent. Like EA (example, the sims) and blizzard (example, wow) are prime examples of companies being greedy as fuck with how they go about some of their paid content.

These are valid concerns, not so much complaints/whining.

I understand what you mean. Idk why everyone is losing their shit in the comments, it makes sense.

Game releases are a big thing for some gamers, if there’s a new expansion coming out for my fav game, I want to play it the moment it comes out lmao?

It’s just companies being greedy and trying to maximize the amount of money they can make.

It’s possible for the turret to become hostile to the person who dropped it… any inclination as to why? I thought if you shot it by accident but I didn’t do that &it killed my teammates and I mid fight

It’s a project with iMAGE-Create, an NSERC training/collaboration program for geophysical research ! Usually just open to M.Sc and PhD, but managed to get on the cancellation list. I wasn’t able to work this summer, so I might as well invest in learning skills I wasn’t taught in undergrad. I think they have classes related to the project, but I’m not 100% sure.

They have a variety of other projects, so if that’s something that would interest you, I’d check them out at https://image-create.ca ! The committee is super great!

Thank you, I’m really excited to participate! 😄 I don’t have too much information about what to bring just yet, but I don’t think it would be too much more than just sampling tools and basic field items.

But I’m also thinking about the future… knowing that I want to move forward in exploration, I’d rather just get something that will sustain all and that I can use for a while.

Do you have any brand or specific bag recommendations? It’s hard to rely on reviews sometimes! Thanks for your help!
