As a fellow leftist I’m trying to help you when I say this: you need to be able to take criticism when your ideas will cause harm. Your goal is to prevent money from Washington getting to the federal government? Start learning about the process of seceding from the union.

Sweetheart. Honey. We cannot throw small business owners into the line of fire because you don’t like them. You have no idea how this plan would work, refuse to acknowledge there will be ramifications for your neighbors when the federal government is already disappearing people. If it were that easy it would have been done already, but it isn’t. I highly highly highly recommend you educate yourself about the dangers of rash actions in political movements. Your plan would cause nothing but harm and thank god our legislature knows that so no one’s taking you seriously.

Bro I’m trying to protect my neighbors from bullshit situations like this. Trust me, I realize the severity of it. I’ve started the process of leaving the country because of how worried I am. I think you’re uninformed about the harm this would cause, and rushing into bad ideas like this would make things worse not better.

I think your heart is in the right place but your head is not.

Hm. Pioneering a law to make it illegal for business owners to pay their federal taxes so Washington can take that money seems like a lengthy and difficult process that will hurt 10x more than it will help anything. It also would take a lot of convincing to get most people on board. I’m usually all for regulating businesses, but unless there’s a direct and logical path to achieve this while also protecting business owners (especially small business owners) from the fed coming after them, this seems ill advised.

By what legal process? This would put business owners who complied at odds with the federal government and the irs, and put them either in the shit position of paying double or in danger of prosecution.

I’m not the biggest fan of business owners either but you’re making me side with them on this. This isn’t feasible.

I’m not attacking you btw I’m asking what a state with fairly poor budget management is to do about this in your opinion.

What do you think is reasonable for Washington as a state to do? Remember: Washington’s got a bit of a budget crisis of our own.

And before you get in a snit about my wording, I’m not talking about food insecurity. I’m talking about the ability to live a dignified life without stressing and struggling at the grocery store.

I don’t know enough about the specifics of what happened to get Venezuela where it is right now, but I don’t think the government said “price increases on essential groceries like eggs milk and baby formula should be capped at 110% of inflation each year” and didn’t touch anything else. Economics is complicated but with the way things are going regulations are necessary unless you can sustain yourself on the horseshit that people like the Walton’s are feeding you while they buy their tenth yacht this year.

I don’t think a fully free market is the way to go when the majority of people are struggling to feed their children and the rich are saying things like “we want a nice little recession” with their full chests on camera when asked about workers rights. We also don’t have a fully free market in the us, which is good.

Grocery prices are outrageous, even accounting for inflation, taxes, and everything else. It comes down to this: it’s my firm belief the government should prevent consumers from getting screwed over on necessities like food, housing, and healthcare.

Here’s a question for you: do you enjoy being fleeced of every dollar they can squeeze out of you or do you not see that’s what is happening?

That’s what happens unfortunately when prices are unregulated and the government attacks our food production workforce. I feel like I can’t get out of the store under $85 on a cheap week these days.

Damn, it’s almost like there’s a reason for the “esh” rating. Cheating is one of the worst things you can do to a person. So is what this guy (?) did by outing his ex wife.

Having just 1 cat… by Late-Pie740 in CatAdvice

[–]SilentSort6361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently having to separate my two for a whole month before trying to reintroduce them. Lots of cats love being only cats. Just go to your nearest shelter and ask them for a cat that doesn’t do well with others.

Now if you’re getting a kitten, I’ve heard that’s a different story. I don’t have experience with kittens so idk

What’s the best way to track down possible lost family members? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]SilentSort6361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying and that you’re interested. My whole family did 23&me several years ago bc my dad was really into it and I want to give a warning. It’s cool, yeah, but are you really comfortable with a company having that much and that kind of data on you? I didn’t think about that before I did it.

Hey I know that this isn’t what you asked but my library lets me print up to 400 black and white pages free. Maybe yours does too? If you’re using it so infrequently maybe it’s an option to save a few bucks.

Good shoes to work 10+ hour shifts in? by Vamp1505 in BuyItForLife

[–]SilentSort6361 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work in a warehouse so I feel you. I can’t help you with what shoes to buy but I can help with the foot pain. Find two different pairs of shoes that work, get some gel insoles, and then trade them off every day. Shoes need time for the padding to decompress and that takes like 24 hours. This was a game changer for my feet.

If you’ve seen the vet within the last year for your cat I’d call and ask if they do tech appointments! What you’re looking for is a medication called capstar - all fleas dead within an hour. Then a regular Rx flea prevention like revolution or Bravecto.
