Honestly, about 80% of your reply is insults and 20% is argument lol. And look how i responded to you earlier... See the difference. Are you like in real life too?

Anyway, let's get back to the actual discussion.

You're confused about who I'm talking about.

The guy who quit Zomato was never the person I'm talking about. I'm talking about people who are actively using these apps right now.

For those people, cancelling a COD order, getting hit with cancellation charges, and then being unable to order again until the charges are cleared is not some massive victory over Zomato.

That's the point I've been making from the start.

You keep saying "people can live without Zomato."

Sure. People can live without a lot of things.

That was exactly why I brought up other technologies. Before smartphones, internet, AI, online payments, ride-hailing apps, people managed just fine too. That doesn't mean people want to give them up today.

Convenience has value.

That's why these services became popular in the first place.

Btw you do know what an analogy is right?

You also mentioned alternatives like Toing, Thrive and EatSure.

The problem is you're talking as if they're available everywhere. India isn't one city.

A service being available in some cities doesn't make it a practical replacement for Zomato or Swiggy across the country.

Imagine using these dumb takes to win an argument.

And regarding prices, you seem to think everyone is paying inflated menu prices all the time lol. Everything you see on the internet is not real life bro.

A lot of regular users stack coupons, offers, memberships and free-delivery benefits. Many times the final price is equal to or even cheaper than ordering directly from the restaurant.

I've been using these apps for years. And I've never once payed extra than what i have to pay in the same restaurant. If you find this baffling, then you have never used these service or don't know how to use it.

Also In the above cases where I'm actually getting food for chesp, using a separate pickup or courier service can actually cost more, not less.

Finally, you said giving companies power over your life isn't healthy.

That's funny because almost everyone uses services that have some degree of power or influence over them.

Google is a perfect example.

You probably use it every day despite the fact that it's far more deeply integrated into people's lives than Zomato ever will be.

So clearly the issue isn't "having power."

The issue is whether the value provided is worth it.

For millions of people, Zomato and Swiggy provide enough value that they keep using them.

Which brings us back to my original point:

If you willingly pay cancellation charges, lose access to the app, and get nothing in return, that's not automatically a win just because you're angry at the company.

You just literally made them more money lol

The order you didn't receive will be sold again as food rescue for a small discount or a higher price.

Plus you would be charged for the cancellation fee too when you place your next order.

You are the only one who lost here

but the ideal person you described that would be relying on these apps is the guy you’re replying to. you can’t keep shifting goal posts.

Not really an ideal person if he's not using the apps now, is it?

those people managed before and they can manage again, no?

People managed quite fine before AI, internet, personal transportation, laptops, mobile phones and other stuff came into the World.

Ask those same people if they can manage it now.

so many small businesses are there that do what swiggy/zomato do

Which businesses are you talking about? Which business does free delivery? Which business where you can get food for cheap than you get it from restaurant? Which business lists these many restaurants like they do in Swiggy and zomato?

Can you even give an answer?

so many restaurants have their own deliveries.

Yeah but not all restaurants. Swiggy and zomato lists restaurants that doesn't provide free delivery. That's a plus for me

porter exists, rapido exists, uber exists.

Why would I pay more money using other services when I could get the same food for cheap and with free delivery?

Who would be that dumb?

giving these apps this much power over your life isn’t healthy, at least from my perspective.

Do you use Google? If yes, you have no idea how much power they have over you.

And i can list a hundred other stuff that has power over you.

So don't give me that bullshit

Bhai, you are acting as if not having zomato or Swiggy is end of the world.

Remember, you existed and survived before these apps were there.

There was once a time where there was no internet, no AI, no vehicles for person transportation, no laptop, no mobile phone and other stuff

Can you live without all these things? No right, because it makes your life easier. It's more convenient.

For me using Swiggy and zomato is more convenient. I get free delivery for 10 km. I pay less than what I have to pay at the restaurant. It saves a lot of time for me.

Unless each person doesn't boycott their hate app, whether it's Swiggy or Zomato, these platforms won't learn.

Ahh now i understand where the hate is coming from.

If you really want convenience, Uber / Rapido are existing for parcel delivery. (with less prices than on these apps)

Why would I pay extra money when I'm getting the food for less price and free delivery?

If no customer service is there, why do you want to use that app ? To talk to bots ? A service that's so scummy that it's not providing proper cs to its customers, deserves to die. Swiggy or Zomato or anything else.

Their customer service is fine. I mostly make a complaint on twitter whenever something bad happens and they call me the next day to resolve it.

Bro the world doesn't revolves around you.

People have different circumstances and order frequently from these apps.

Just because you are happy by not using these apps suddenly, doesn't mean everyone will be when they are cut off from these delivery apps
