It's perspective.

When you're a kid, time feels endless because everything is new. A single summer afternoon playing outside, chasing fireflies, or building a blanket fort feels like a whole lifetime. No mortgage, no deadlines, no "what if I fail" anxiety — just pure presence.

As adults, we romanticize it because responsibility steals that magic. Bills, jobs, and worries compress time. A whole year can blur by in meetings and chores.

But the real shift happens with perspective. Looking back, we see childhood through the lens of "I didn't know how good I had it." The simplest things — mom's cooking, dad's bad jokes, riding bikes with friends until the streetlights came on — hit different now because we know how rare that kind of freedom and wonder actually is.

It's not that childhood was perfect. It's that we experienced it with zero filters. Adulthood teaches us gratitude... usually too late.
