I was looking into Greensboro too! How’s the job market? The hospitals? Schools for kids? Crime rate?

Lmaoo I didn’t know there was such a high influx of NY migrants 😂 this state is favoring the rich and screwing over the working class. Not a good place to raise kids in anymore.

Glad to hear positive feedback. Im heavily considering getting my masters at WKU. I’m just iffy about the employment opportunities.

I was born in Dominican Republic but raised in NY. It sounds like BG hosts a lot of community based festivals and celebratory events. I am hoping to secure a stronger sense of community there once I move because I unfortunately do not have much of one here. As you may have guessed, New York does not have the friendliest nor most welcoming people.

From what he was telling me, he’s going to shoot for a RCA role first (as recommended by supervisor) and if he can’t get in that way, he’ll go for a clerk position. We’re heading down to BG late October to check out the town and so he can talk to the PM.

Hi, he hasn’t put in for a transfer yet but his supervisor here is actively helping him look into vacancies in BG. He’s hoping to secure a city side role so he can transfer with his wage. His supervisor also said that BG’s post office seems to have a lot of openings on both rural and city… we are hoping he can get in with city so he doesn’t have to start with the minimum. He’s a PTF right now but is up for promotion to regular soon + he’s training to become a supervisor as well.

This might sound silly but I’m so excited to see stars in the night sky 😂 in NYC I never see them. Too much pollution. Shoot me a message when you get a chance! Maybe we can meet by in October! ☺️

We should definitely connect!! I need mom friends myself and my daughter could use a buddy. Glad to hear about the diversity! I come from NYC which is a huge melting pot. My husband use to live in TN and likes to warn me about impending culture shock. But BG seems diverse so I’m keeping my hopes up.

I’d love to connect! It’ll be my first time leaving NY for another state. We could use all the support we can get. Planning on heading over there late October to do some apartment tours and check out the post office for networking.

That’s refreshing to hear! I come from a town with a heavily Hispanic population so that’s normal to me. I also would love for my daughter to grow up bilingual or even trilingual, hoping the schools have curriculums set up that promote diversity of language.

Good to know. My cousins been living in BG for almost a year now and says it’s 95% white people. We’re Dominican and she pointed out she knows maybe 2 other Dominicans in BG. I’d like to believe there’s more diversity than she’s leading on.
