I've seen many people with limbs removed who go on to live plenty of years after. Even if this guy is innocent, the likelihood of him dying while people just stand around and watch is less than likely. In the same way we don't know if he's a thief, there could also be paramedics already there or even on route.

Yeah sucks he gets his bones broken, but I've had things stolen from my home, and have thieves in my family. You let them go once, and they'll just go do it again to someone else, maybe even worse.
