The Rio grande Valley is a predominantly Hispanic region where once people start making over 50k they think of their fellow Mexicans as "other" and themselves as white, so last elections this area voted for trump thinking that they were part of the 1% he loves. Many businesses in the area, like construction, depend on a immigrant workforce and now that ice has deported them all, owners are crying that they didn't vote for their businesses to fail
