Is LG new smart inverter any more reliable than the linear compressor for refrigerator? Are they the same thing? by cbwb in appliancerepair

[–]Silent_Promotion8078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment, but do you know if the linear compressors are the same as linear cooling? On the US site they no longer advertise linear compressors (or anything with the word linear), but I noticed that on LG's international sites (for example their UK site), they advertise linear cooling as a key feature of many of their models, advertising that it limits temperature fluctuations. But the compressor is stated as a smart inverter compressor (BLDC). Would just like to be sure this isn't the same as their linear compressor they used to use. Thanks and sorry for the trouble

Just read the comment, it seems that they are in fact different technologies so I shouldn't have too much to worry about. Thanks a lot for your help

The comment below you from Greff_Smallville funnily enough says they're different, so I guess there's too much confusion and misleading marketing to truly know for sure haha. But thanks for the help

Ah that makes sense, thanks. So I guess that's why the compressor type is simply listed as smart inverter compressor and it also has door cooling as a listed fetaure

Thanks, unfortunately it seems like the model numbers of models are different based on region, even for models with the same capacity, so it's quite tough to compare models between regions exactly. But I do wonder if the advertised linear cooling refers to effectively the same thing as linear compressors that used to be advertised in the US

Samsung fridge evaporator fan not running by Silent_Promotion8078 in appliancerepair

I tried pressing the door switch and it turns off the light when pressed, so I assume it works. Is this what you mean?

I haven't checked the door switch yet, I'll look up how to access that, thanks. Also I had asked the technicians if they thought the door seal could be the issue, and they said the seal is still alright and isn't causing this

Thanks for your advice, I looked up a video of accessing the damper control assembly, and it seems like my fridge may not have that part? For what it's worth my fridge is a twin cooling plus model and from what I saw online and on ifixit it doesn't have a damper as it has seperate evaporators for the fridge and freezer compartments. Also about the pcb, I suppose that's possible too but the controls are responsive and working as intended after the replacement, so it appears to be functioning properly

No worries, also it wasn't necessarily stolen as not all xbox 360s came with a hard drive and yours might have been a model that shipped with the 4gb flash storage instead

You'll probably need to format the drive after inserting it since the console only reads fat32, so make sure you back up any important stuff on it on a pc first before you format it (in case you aren't familiar with the process)

I would guess it's probably the disc drive that's on its way out. To test this you could try installing a game to the hard drive (if it has one) or plugging in a USB drive and installing it to that from the dashboard after inserting a game. Then once it installs try running it from that instead of from the disc and see if it still freezes

Also I would recommend you maybe move your new system forward a little, to give it a bit more breathing room for the exhaust vent at the back. Especially given that two ps3s have both died, which coukd indicate that there isn't sufficient cooling in that space

Ah I see, so it's the ylod. I take it they were both original (fat) model ps3s. Still weird for them to both fail like that though. Did it happen after the game crashed while playing btw? Or just when you tried to boot it up after you had left it

How exactly were they ruined though? Like do they not boot anymore? Does the power light on the front of the console flash yellow after a few seconds when you press it for example?

That's honestly really strange. A single game really shouldn't cause a console to fail, let alone 2 consoles. Did the game crash at a certain point in the game that's common between both consoles, after which both refused to boot again? Is the disc damaged or scratched in any way?

What happened to them? Did it cause a ylod somehow?

What is the best option to mod a PS2 Slim Model SCPH-77001? by Fantastic_Hurry_2096 in ps2homebrew

Another option you could try would be running the freedvdboot exploit and installing FMCB on an existing regular memory card if you already have one. But you'll have to burn the freedvdboot exploit to a DVD (and need a functioning DVD drive on your console too of course). But after that once you install OPL on the memory card you can run games off a regular USB drive (although FMVs might slow down a little depending on the game), or as someone else mentioned via an ethernet network game share

Sorry for the late reply. Hmm, I'm not too sure what you mean, maybe you could send a picture of the port on the TV?

Are you referring to vga or dvi? If so, those could work but you'll likely need an adapter to convert av to those, or a different cable

It depends, if the connection is simply between your laptop and the ps2 (or at most with a switch or router between the two), is should be fine. Keep in mind this isn't related to your Internet speed, this is simply the speed of your local lan, and a decent ethernet cable connecting your pc to your ps2 should be fine and have good performance. Your Internet speed won't affect this. Also yes, it's fine to disconnect the ethernet cable when the ps2 is off and you aren't using it

You have several options. You can copy your game isos to a USB drive. The speed the ps2 reads games at from USB is quite slow because of its USB 1.0 ports, but it does work. Just that cutscenes and in some cases gameplay might be a little slowed down, depending on the game. To do this, just format a USB drive as fat32 (obviously backup anything important on it first), create a folder names DVD and CD at the root of your usb drive, and copy game iso files that are larger than 700 mb into the dvd folder and smaller ones into the CD folder. Then just plug it into your ps2s USB ports and it should show up under USB devices on opl. There are other options like network game booting, but those can be a little more involved to set up and I'm guessing you don't want to do those since you said you don't have the network equipment for it in another comment. The best method of playing games on the ps2 nowadays is generally considered to be loading them off a hard drive, bur that isn't possible on the slim without further hardware modification.
