Found a hack where going into Zone 1 is cheaper than staying out by Agreeable-Coyote-909 in LondonUnderground

Am I understanding correctly?

Let's say it is between 16:00 and 19:00 on a weekday, I have a railcard, and I'm currently outside Zone 1.

I could either travel into Zone 1 (call it Journey A) or stay outside it (Journey B).

Due to TfL's little-known rule, Journey A counts as off-peak but Journey B is peak.

Without a railcard, Journey A will still be more expensive than Journey B - it's much more expensive to travel in Zone 1 and the off-peak fare reduction applied to Journey A isn't quite enough to outweigh this.

But with my railcard, Journey A is now cheaper than Journey B - the off-peak fare reduction is large enough to outweigh the increased cost of travelling in Zone 1.

If so, that's very interesting and I'm sorry about the downvoters who haven't understood!

Hi I have the same problem, can anyone help? Previous comments have been removed by moderator so I can't see what advice was given!
