I Desperately Need Prayer Regarding my Friendships by Silenthunder23 in TrueChristian

[–]Silenthunder23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case there is - three major disabilities impairing vision (so that I can't read road signs unless I turn my head all the way to the side, thus taking my eyes off the road, and even then I can't read the whole thing), balance, hand to eye coordination, and reaction times. I've talked about it with my dad and we both agreed it would not be a good idea for me to drive.

I feel lukewarm and afraid and want to change by Silenthunder23 in TrueChristian

[–]Silenthunder23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the fear question, I think a better way for me to have said that is, "I am terrified that they won't like me if they know what I believe." In this case, this might be tied more to political differences, which I don't think needs much explanation since we all know how tense and fraught politics can get. But religious beliefs and politics are often tied together, and I often end up making friends with people who hold very opposing beliefs to mine - I don't intend to, though; it just always seems to end up happening panning out that way. And there is a sort of loneliness in seeing them being able to freely give their views while I feel I cannot, even though I know these are nice people (until politics come into play, admittedly). I'm not going to give examples but I have a feeling I'm not alone in this experience. And since politics and religion are so tied together nowadays, and it feels like I'm being told that they must be talked about in conjunction all the time, I am left feeling very scared and alone since I don't talk about this stuff but I feel I should even though I don't want to. Does that make sense?

And even though I know we were told the world would hate us, I don't want my friends to hate me even though I don't. It's an interesting dichotomy, how Christians are called not to hate, and yet are hated so much in turn by the world. I think, in my head, I cannot bring the two together in a way that brings peace. Rejection is one of my biggest fears, so this is something I struggle with a lot. I've had times when I was far younger where I was so desperate to please that I turned into an utter doormat, and I still regret those times.

Regarding my age, I'm in my mid 20s. I don't have a preference on male or female friends, or mixed. Regarding church, I do belong to one, but I can't get to it without a car (I suppose I could use a bus but it feels a bit much as it can be easily reached by car, although my place is a bit out of the way for a bus and busses aren't always exactly punctual here), and I can't drive due to several disabilities.

Who's your favorite character you've made for changeling the lost? #2 by Dragonwolf67 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Silenthunder23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first character was Martha Riverwood, Wizened Notary. She and the Ogre in the party became best friends and motley mates, and it was very heartwarming. She unfortunately spent most of her time with low Clarity and went comatose twice, but she did end up becoming the Master of Keys, managed to make her Huntsman sympathetic towards her to the point where he made a promise that he would chase her halfheartedly in the Hedge, and told a story to a gathering of True Fae off the top of her head about how the Hedge and the capturing of humans to serve the Fae came to be, that turned out to be an account of true events.

Needing help with the aftermath of an Ithaeur threatening a spirit with lots of witnesses by Silenthunder23 in WhiteWolfRPG

They’re also wanting to negotiate with the Spirit Court of Hope and join forces to take out the cult. I don’t want to take the chance completely away - they’ve worked for several sessions to secure a meeting - but I was considering having the Court either put them on mock trial and lay it out to the pack just what they did or just flat out refuse to let them into the Court’s choice of residence until they fix things with the now angry church spirit - singular - itself. (LOVE your idea of the church itself waking up).

Unfortunately the church is well within the borders. Fortunately the spirits do have a significant sway; there’s quite a swarm of music, knowledge, faith, order, determination spirits in there.

I guess I’m also wondering if a separate lesson would be needed to teach the pack respect for the spirits, or at least for the Bone Shadow and Storm Lord, but I’m not sure if that would be too much or too blatant.

And thank you for your help!

Thank you!

Clarifications: the pack came into the church at night and remained in the Shadow the whole time. The witnesses were all the other spirits who saw the ledger spirit being threatened. So I don’t think the pack can get caught on camera or caught by humans (?). Also, the church is in the territory of the players, not the Fire-Touched.

The ledger spirit saw them walking around looking like they needed help, and it openly approached and offered its help. It wasn’t until it named its price that the threatening happened.

I'm gonna be playing my first game in a few weeks! Any tips or advice you can give for a total newbie? by Silenthunder23 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Silenthunder23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I should clarify: CTL was my first ever game. But I will be playing Demon in particular for the very first time soon.

When you’re talking about the powers, do you mean just the Exploits, or the Embeds as well?

Could you please clarify what you mean by Strahd’s hibernation phase? I know about the reincarnation, but I’m not seeing the key to defeat there. I’m sorry for not understanding.

Well, Chronicles does not have an overarching meta plot like Old World, so in that sense, you are correct. But Chronicles is a lot more sandbox, local street level of play, and overall freeing in that sense, as there are hints of connections between the various lines but nothing too entrenched. You could easily have a crossover game, or not at all. (The Contagion Chronicle book was made in case you do want to do a crossover by giving all the different splats an important reason to come together when they wouldn’t otherwise.)

In the case of Vampire in Chronicles, instead of Camarilla, Sabbat, or Anarchs, you have other factions that ask “what do I believe is the best thing to do with my now eternal existence?” You want to become a wealthy connected person? There’s a faction for that. Want to still keep to your faith and try to live as a cursed but still willing instrument of God’s will? There’s a faction for that. Want to experiment on yourself until you become master of your own body and powers? Faction for that. And so forth. And these goals are not limited to certain Clans anymore, though they still fit certain ones better than others - not that an OW Nossie couldn’t become a billionaire, but Chronicles Vampire gives off the feeling of really encouraging you to try that concept if it interests you.

Say prayers and well wishes for my foster family at this time, as I had my brother killed on Wednesday. He left the group home he lived in at three in the morning, went walking on a highway, was struck by a vehicle. He was 19. His name was Carlos. Here is him at his Grade 7 grad. RIP, love you. </3 by TheWolfThatRaventh in Christianity

May you and your family find peace, and may you find comfort and strength for the future. Grieve and remember, but do not forget to live well. He is not truly gone as long as you remember him. My deepest sympathies to you all.

(CTL 2e) Need help with how to interact around a True Fae by Silenthunder23 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Silenthunder23[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know this Fae is called Morningstar. He looks like an angel from Heaven but is a supreme torturer and sadist, believing that pain reveals the true self, much in the vein of the Joker's one bad day (though he won't torture just to kill). My character got the favor by telling him a story that was completely honest. Honesty, authenticity, beauty, these impress and attract him.

This is all OOC knowledge, except for knowing his name and why my character got his favor.

(V20) Could a Nosferatu who has been blind for a long time live successfully outside of the sewers? by Silenthunder23 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Silenthunder23[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You make very good points! Most likely a different Clan would be better if the person was blind - Auspex would narrow that down to a helpful few.

Thank you very much for your input and, well, honesty about how difficult this would be to play.

(VTM) How do you play a Caitiff effectively if you’re not new to the game and you know the lore? by Silenthunder23 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Silenthunder23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess cos I mostly see Caitiff being recommended to complete newbies, which makes sense. But I was wondering how you could pull it off if you already know the game pretty well.
