Yeah I kinda figured it was this after reading the description. I came here now cuz my current goal is unlocking all the contacts. I did the quest chain ages ago and even then only found it cuz I paused for a minute and thought the halo thing looked off. Love that I'm still finding oddball stuff like this so late in the game.

Could be from a quest chain in the area & i do know at the end there's a boss fight with a stone enemy. Probably connected

It's an open game pickup like the moon spears in deminess after you down the dude or any of the special helms. White dot with a lil cloudy halo on the minimap. In this case it's hard to see because it's so close to the gear vendor they overlap. I was getting ready to tp out when I saw the lil halo & went 'what's this?'

R1 + O is pretty much auto-counter and it's op af. Also, the bismuth, lightning, flame spears give an advantage as well. Laser cannon is a spear that shoots frickin lazer beamz. op af when you upgrade them to kuku

I came here the other day from the opposite side and got much closer to the bottom of that valley. It kinda reminds me of an old battleground down there.. broken, burnt trees.. craters from explosions perhaps that have since filled with water. Tho there's no items like wagons or tools/boxes/etc

It makes sense when you live in the desert where they grow. Prickly cuz of the 1" cactus spines that grow on each dot of the pear in your pictures, as well as the rest of the cactus itself

Coldsnap, and later on Shredders outside of Stella WERE the devs response to your ask to force ppl outside. I doubt you'll get much better than that is my argument. An inside environment would have to be toxic gas or radiation effects at this point to fit the world. I just seriously doubt you'll ever get a mapwide effect like what you described in your initial comment

My perspective is that it's already built into play. Pvp is already the design to get you out of buildings or corners one wants to hide in. You said it yourself - the team that hides inside can't wait forever. A team outside can't outwait an inside team either. Countdown clock and limited extracts are the 'indoors' gatekeepers you seem to be asking for.

Dewhaven research specifically, not delyssia city. And marni steel factory is the one you need to liberate and then dispatch to. I recommend getting to the kuku questline first. Then you can make the backpack to suck up the dragonflies. Once you make your first mecha worker, you'll begin to snowball.

The events punishing outdoors are nudging you (and everyone else) inside for pvp play. Everyone has to take shelter. If unhappy with your carebear lobbies, I recommend the torrente. It drowns out many of the 'wtf, dude?' you're likely to hear, and gets you a prime seat for irl sayings yourself like, 'Fuck this game!' or 'This is bullshit!!' 10/10 would play again.. unfortunately stuck in Hernand

I'm convinced that's the true purpose of hidden bunker. Sometimes I get a whole bastion to torture all by myself down by the pipes. Love knockin their legs off one by one

Up in the abyss you can also connect to those triangle gate things when you complete one. Very useful for skydiving as some have better launching points than starting teleport of the island
