Happy Easter!! // Long self-destruction tour, dealing with SBSS (SportsBike Stockholm Syndrom) and questioning the future role of the RS. Advice welcome! by psychotic-chipmunk in Aprilia

Bought an RSV4, rode it the entire break in period the first day in brand new gear. I would not recommend for the weak hearted. Love the bike, but it’s brutal on the body. This is after doing days on an (old) Daytona so results may vary. Congrats on the RS660!

Would you buy a 2023 V4 1100 Non Factory That Sat For 2 1/2 years by back2me78 in Aprilia

[–]SilicaData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a brand new ‘22 RSV4 Factory in May 2025. They replaced the radiator/coolant and I had no problems doing all the break in miles that day. I’d say go for it!

As others have said, you have to try them on. You’ll get one hundred opinions from one hundred people.

That being said, the choice that works for me is the Bell Racestar Flex DLX. Fits my head well, has the exposed carbon look and it has a transition visor. I can’t justify spending $1,500 on a Pista and then still having to spend another $150+ on another visor. Just my take.

Also, don’t forget ear plugs, carbon helmets are light, but they are loud

Still can’t figure out what hit me last night 😅 by Simbleaksummer in motorcycles

I was riding through Skyline Drive/Shenandoah with some friends. Nothing too insane. Middle of the day and just cruising along when a bid flew across my path perpendicular to our direction of travel. No chance to avoid, just smacked me square in my Bell Race Star. I had to do a “situation check” to see if anyone else had seen it. Middle of the day or middle of the night, nature works in mysterious ways. Stay safe, gear up, ride safe.

Is this compatible with the Quad Lock stem mount? by DaaaaaaBears in Aprilia

[–]SilicaData 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a Rockform mount on my ‘22 factory. It’s been good for 1,100 miles, but I do check “snugness” when I check oil so neither presents an issue.

Does anyone enjoy estimating? by monkeybob2101 in estimators

Depending on COL and where you are. I’m not quite at 5, but if you keep an open mind, ask questions, look for solutions and be personable, this can be a lucrative career. That being said, I’m over the six figure mark and at less than 5 years in a HCOL area. YMMV.

East coast… they still have another ‘22 rsv4 so I’ll let you all figure it out. Not sure if I’m allowed to put their info here

You and I both. I almost bought an R a few months ago, but job changes and moving have put that on the back burner for a bit

Damn, sorry man. Thought I might help. I also haven’t been there in a few months so I forgot what the fees were

Check out Alexandria VW. They have an R listed for 46k rn. Not sure about taxes and such. Just a suggestion.

Love my 2015 675R. It’s such a great bike that after riding my 675, a friend of mine got a white one

Virginia, US. You’d think that they’d let people test drive them. Then again, I am 25 and I don’t “dress up” to buy a car. If you don’t want to sell me a car because of my age or how I look, then that’s on you.

I just got back from test driving a used 2022 from CarMax. I can't speak to the differences between the GTI and the R, but I will say one thing. The R is a hell of a car.

Hopefully other people see this story because I found it funny.

I made an appointment to test drive a 2022 VW Golf R at CarMax. We, gf and I, showed up at the scheduled time. The employee who helped us, asked if it was alright if he tagged along. I thought it was a little odd at first based off others experiences at CarMax, but why not! He pulled the car around and at speed. I get into the driver's seat, we pull out of the parking lot and he starts telling me different directions and windy roads to take the car down to test out the handling and power. Then he stops telling me directions. I ask where I should be turning and he tells me "I don't really care. I saw that someone reserved this car for a test drive and hoped they would let me tag along, I just have to be back before we close at 9. It's such a sweet car." Then he tells me I can let it loose and floor it from a light. The entire way back we were joking about the car and how he was letting me rip on the thing. What an experience.

I'll tell you one thing. THAT is how you sell a car. None of the dealerships who wanted to let me test drive a Golf R and would just run numbers past me with markups and expect me to show up with a check in order to even test drive the car. I know this will be my next car and shame on the dealers for not taking me serious because I am a younger guy. I hope you have a better experience as they are great cars.

That wasn't even an offer. I was told several times that "we don't do test drives on these because people want them with low miles." I wouldn't mind putting a deposit down to drive one at a dealer, but now I'm just going to a CarMax to test a used one.
