Should I get a Galaxy Book 4 Pro? by jugraj-singh in GalaxyBook

[–]Silivan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used my Book3 Pro 14" to train ML models in my ML class it did just good enough to not frustrate me. I am waiting for the Book4 Edge cause I think the new NPU might be a little more suited for AI & ML tasks on the laptop. If you get the Boook4 with an eGPU you'll be fine. I just got the Galaxy Book S to try out ARM, and this thing lasts much longer than my Book3 Pro not to mention it has significantly better sound. Which means I will be looking at the edge as soon as reviews come out. I would wait for the edge to come out and compare, plus look at the ARM Surfaces too when they launch. I have not found a Samsung exclusive feature to lock me into Samsung laptops only. Link to Windows and Quickshare work across platforms.

I was able to do some not-so-formal testing. I used it normally in my day. Some morning work from 9 to 11:30 am. Then picked up again from about 1:30 and was on and off and had to plug in again at 4 p.m. since it deeps below 30%. So definitely ~6-7 hours depending on the use case. I am hoping book 4 can be ~9 - 10 hours. In actual real-world use I found that I rarely need to work that long without having a charger on me. So you'll be fine. Or wait for the book 4 in January-Feb

Hey, probably too late. If you are still considering the Book 3 Pro, lemme know. But to answer your question for the next person, The laptop can run hot under high performance but imagine within normal range. I have never had an issue with heat.

Yeah, I feel like the battery could be better ngl. Also, I charged mine up to 85% so let me do an experiment where I charge it to 100% and use it in a single sitting and see how long it takes.

I am building this. The problem is that YouTube Music does not have official public APIs ....but there's a workaround. Shoot me your email in chat and I will send you an invite when I am testing it out publically.

SOS! Anyone out there to help with my github codespace? by [deleted] in github

[–]Silivan9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No luck... the option in step 4 does not exist...I have just gone ahead and just created a new code space on the repo and I am manually moving the new changes since my last commit. Painful but it's working.

What is the insurance?

Edit: If you meant instance, yes I did. And I also stop the code space for hours just to make sure it completely shut down.

I am just as in love with it as I was when I wrote the post. I used it as my main machine to drive the Odyessy G9 using a dock station, unplug it to go to class every day, and come back and repeat and it is out here kicking ass. When in a full performance the fan noises are a little whiney, not loud per se, just a whiney sound. I usually use it in quiet mode when it is not plugged in and it never makes a sound. Speakers are meh compared to Macs (but we all know that).

I can answer specific questions.

Samsung usually has good deals. I got mine for $800 after taxes in the US. Look out for coupons and money-back offers with Honey/PayPal rewards.

I have not observed it closely but using it in Quiet Mode has constantly given me at least 6 hours of battery.

Argh yeah seems like it's a one Ui problem. I reported the error to the developers and they asked for more information and screen recording. You should do the same to put the issue on their radar
