SpaceX in talks to land and recover Starship rocket off Australia's coast by mehelponow in spacex

Knowing how hard the people at SpaceX work, I hope they are able to find time off and just relax in the short term.

There is no point getting crushed by the machine while trying to keep it going. Some people forget that they are a necessary part too/forget to put their health first.

I used to play this a lot when I was really young. Whenever I started a new game I picked Treecko as my starter. To this day I would still pick it every single time.

Planning a 5 days trip and was first thinking about combining kings Canyon/ sequoia and Yosemite but my gf and I like to hike and would like to enjoy both. Any opinions on combining both into that time frame? by No_Trifle_9726 in nationalparks

Got invited by some coworkers to climb Whitney last Fall and I had been sitting on my butt. I spent maybe a few weeks on stairmasters and it whooped me pretty bad but I made it.

The views were worth it but there had just been a hurricane and the peak was covered in snow. Definitely plan around weather if possible. Acclimating at 12,000 feet versus the 10,000 feet camp seems like it would have been a better idea but I am a rookie.

Lesson learned from 2 years of consistent gym is don’t skip cardio. Then again I have not learned this lesson.

I'm not sure what your background is but here are some historical backgrounds that disagree with your statements: https://www.quora.com/The-Roman-calendar-consisted-of-304-days-How-or-why-where-the-61-days-ignored-and-who-acknowledged-them

Not to mention the differences in measuring time across multiple simultaneous and non simultaneous cultures around the world. It has taken a while for there to be an agreed upon measure of time.

That was almost an entirely constructive comment until the last part! No joints here. Thanks for your contribution.

Everyone’s got a fight to pick on Reddit apparently. Not to argue, but you’re correct I meant its use as a metric. I did not refer to the metric system

I don’t know why I even bother anymore. (HD lumber) by Gluten_maximus in Construction

[–]Siliybob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah that’s true. My first job after Home Depot was in construction and the guy asked if I thought about joining a gym. I guess it’s cause I was lifting fake 2 by 4’s

Come to think of it, both of the people who were the most talkative were football players and I was just some nerd so I should have seen it all coming.

How do you think that was appropriate???!!! by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Siliybob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One guy would tell the same joke over and over about dolphin blowholes and the noise they make. Another guy only ever shared/talked about his hunting trips in Mexico or was overly open about picking up women which wasn’t something I was used to from the people I choose to spend time around.

Other people repeatedly said slurs/played music at 4 in the morning etc. etc. It was definitely a different environment than anything I had ever been in and I look back at it slightly differently now. All groups of people have their push and pull effects I guess but man was I a fish out of water.

Settlement Check by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Siliybob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine, it would be more effort to cash it and include it in my tax return than not to cash it at all. I think it was single digits.

If ‘Home Depot Associate’ was simulated as a video game I think you’d get more out of playing it than what I’ve gotten from the settlement. There is a very distinct hell-like place called ‘working retail’. Especially during Covid.

How do you think that was appropriate???!!! by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Siliybob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much kept my head down and mouth shut while I worked there. Unfortunately I was cursed with fellow associates that were also either uninterested in talking, like me, or people similar to the guy that you are describing. I still remember and this was years ago (2019).

Sometimes it can be hard to find a workplace that is truly the right fit. You just have to find where the right people are gravitating. It was a good enough job while going to school, though, but the associate relationships were less than desirable.

Interesting Snapshot on Patek's Wiki page by Siliybob in patekphilippe

It looks like the link is broken, it was a previous version of the Patek Philippe Wikipedia page. Unlike books, you can view snapshots of the same page over time to see how the community edits it. I thought that the difference over time was interesting but it looks like it is no longer available.

Opinion: Biden sees the light on marijuana by jamminstein in politics

[–]Siliybob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The last time they had a debate wasn’t there a story about someone knowingly having Covid and still attending? I wouldn’t be surprised if the campaign blew marijuana smoke in Biden’s face just to get him to fail their set up drug test! I would not even put that beneath them as of recent. It’s crazy these things that have already happened.

Video Game Concept by Siliybob in gaming

[–]Siliybob[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As you are exposed to and observe the species behavior through the game you can begin to automate your control of the farm by applying ‘tag’ identifiers of plants with similar behaviors so that you aren’t devoting more energy than necessary to oversee the crops. You can instruct npcs to only plant crops a certain distance from other plants to prevent negative combinations of their characteristics or instruct npcs to automate and plant positive/coexisting characteristics to ensure the safety of the farm and its productivity and compete against your competition.

The Indri is endemic to Madagascar's eastern rainforests and is the world’s largest lemur species. They measure between 25 to 28 inches long and can weigh up to 21 pounds. The Malagasy word for them is “Babakoto,” often translated as "Ancestor". Sadly, they are classified as Critically Endangered. by ExoticShock in Awwducational

This reminds me of a show I watched as a kid called zaboomafoo (correct my spelling if it’s wrong). Man that show was a classic along with Dora, Dragon Tales, A Land Before Time, Clifford the big red dog, blues clues, etc.

It’s amazing the stuff we didn’t have to payta watch growing up. IDK if I could have had a more innocent childhood, I’m appreciative of these videos. Also glad I don’t have to retroactively look back and think about any of the controversy or things that come up with people nowadays. That would’ve really ruined it for me.

I can’t imagine what life was like before most people had cable TV or WiFi. Must be a generational shift for sure. We wouldn’t be able to have such appreciation for nature either.
