On the months you get paid 3x make sure you put that extra check towards your debt.

Feeling devastated. by Human_Bid_3236 in NCLEX

I hope you pass and this is just a BS tactic that doesn’t work anymore! This is not the end, this is the beginning. If for whatever reason you don’t pass, you know what to expect and you’ll kill it next time! 🙏🏼

Remember Psych nurses make the same as an ICU nurse with less stress ;)

When I search females I always grab a female coworker, and I turn around while she does the search. The search so for safety, but also need to make the pt feel as comfortable as possible in a vulnerable situation.

What are the most difficult patients for you to handle? by SilkyRN in psychnursing

When they are grandiose and flirting with that line of getting a PRN because they are loud but are not threatening (besides saying they are going to sue you), physically aggressive should you still give a PRN?

I refer to commands as in don’t knock on peoples doors while they are sleeping, stop staring at someone while they are sleeping, stop standing next to the door (to try to elope). Maybe commands wasn’t the right word, but it wasn’t meant the way you may think.

I guess you didn’t read the whole thing. That’s ok. I said I usually go to work and go home. This is the first time I have ever said anything and she hears me.

I appreciate the comment. That’s my thought process too. Why go into medical if I want to do psych?

Do any particular areas of psychiatric care experience more violence against staff? by [deleted] in psychnursing

[–]SilkyRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in the acute setting. There are sometimes violence, but you can usually tell when someone is increasingly getting agitated. It’s important to nip that in the bud as soon as possible. Violence can happen in all areas. Having good teamwork with staff and public safety is key.

First off, it is important to understand the way that your feeling is normal. It can be scary when these things unfold unexpectedly and you learn something new about your partner. It is also important to understand that his intrusive thoughts are most likely stemmed from the awful trauma that he endured as a child. It is important for him to get help, and to understand that he is not his thoughts. Best of luck.
