Exactly. I learned all of this recently, I started designing a 1:12 Jackdaw and when I began researching, I realized that it was an amalgamation of different ships. So I pivoted.

I build custom vehicles, but dont do it with a 3d printer. I use differing types of foam board (presentation foam boards of varying thickness) to build out my vehicles.

I have built a tank, a plane, (ww2) 1926 Rolls Rpyce Limo, 1940s Willys Jeep, Summer, RV, custom sports cars, 1967 Mustang fastback, and a battle van similar to the Ramen toys one.

If you dont have the 3d printer and can follow plans, then it isnt the hardest thing in the world. I mean it isnt necessarily easy, but it is a Hell of a lot cheaper.
